Posting Details Position Information Job Title Director of Online Education - Online Education/Instruction - Modesto Junior College Personnel Requistion Form Site Modesto Junior College Salary Range/Other Management Salary Schedule (2025-2026) Range 38: $9,650 to $12,261 monthly or $9,901 to $12,512 monthly with earned Doctorate. New appointees will receive year-for-year credit for prior management experience to a maximum of Step C. Benefits The District currently pays for a health options for the employee and dependents. Employees may elect to pay a premium for a higher health option. Vision care and dental insurance premiums for the employee and dependents is District paid. Income protection and life insurance premiums for the employee are also District paid. The estimated cost of District provided benefits (health, dental, vision, and life) is $24,408 annually. Position Summary Information Scope of Assignment
DEFINITION
Under general administrative direction, provide analytical, administrative, strategic leadership, management, training, course design support, and oversight of online education, infrastructure, and related instructional technologies; ensure that Modesto Junior College meets policies, procedures, and laws regarding online education. Coordinate initiatives promoting affordability and equity of instruction materials, including but not limited to Open Education Resources (OER), Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC), and Low Textbook Cost (LTC).
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This director classification oversees, directs, and coordinates activities related to Online Education. While providing direction Instructional Designers, this position will support Online Education and ZTC/OER Coordinators in creating and facilitating technology-related pedagogy training. The Director of Online Education will provide professional support to the College in various administrative, coordinative, and liaison capacities.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general administrative direction from the Dean of Instruction. Provides direct supervision to numerous technical as well as other administrative support staff, as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
Education:
A master's degree from an accredited college or university in educational technology, instructional design, education, instructional technology, business administration, or related field.
Experience:
Three years of increasingly responsible instructional support experience with instructional and/or administrative technology, preferably in a community college setting.
Knowledge of:
Principles and practices of supporting equitable, inclusive, and anti-racist academic and workplace environments. Legal mandates, policies and regulations pertaining to online learning processes and technology services. Principles, practices, procedures, and techniques involved in development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional services, plans, strategies, processes, systems, projects, goals, and objectives. Instructional technologies such as: learning management systems; video production and streaming, video and teleconferencing, and mobile apps. Accessibility of instructional content and technology functionality for all learners with diverse needs and abilities. Principles, practices and techniques of organization, supervision, employee motivation and training. Ability to: Develop, implement, and communicate goals, policies, procedures, work standards, and internal controls for departments and assigned program areas. Interpret, apply, explain, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local policies, procedures, laws, and regulations. Prepare and present management reports in a clear and concise manner. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Creates a positive environment that supports innovation, teamwork, and successful outcomes. Prepares annual goals, participates in planning activities, and facilitates completion of goals that support the College's mission, priorities, and strategic plan. Remains current on education code and legislative advancements impacting online education Designs, recommends, and implements a strategic online education plan through research and data analysis of enrollment issues, trends, and models, designed to support consistent enrollment growth, increased student success, and reduced equity gaps. Facilitates the instructional design and development of projects in support of online education offerings. Plans and evaluates the performance of assigned staff; establishes performance requirements and personal development targets; monitors performance and provides coaching for performance improvement and development. Coordinates initiatives promoting affordability and equity of instructional materials, including OER, ZTC, and LTC. Leads campus efforts to align the college's online education offerings with guidelines related to accreditation, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and state/federal requirements for online education. Develops and conducts ongoing training and professional development opportunities for faculty in instructional design, strategies, and pedagogies. Participates in committees, task forces, and special assignments. Performs other related duties as assigned.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
