200 days Position Overview The Teaching and Learning Leader will oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the school's curriculum and instructional practices. This role ensures that teaching aligns with high-quality instructional materials (HQIM), meets the needs of diverse learners, and drives student achievement. The ideal candidate is an instructional expert who can coach and evaluate teachers and instructional support staff, analyze data, and implement research-based strategies to support student growth and success. The Teaching and Learning Leader is a collaborative member of the Leadership Team to ensure Charette's Strategic Plan goals and initiatives are implemented and monitored for achievement of outcomes. Key Responsibilities- Curriculum & Instructional Leadership
- Lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of HQIM implementation and other standards-based curricula. .
- Co-lead the MTSS System of Supports
- Develop and oversee instructional models that support all students, including MLLs, students with IEPs, and students with 504 plans.
- Design and implement a school-wide instructional schedule that maximizes student learning time and additional academic support. Teacher Support & Professional Learning
- Supervise, evaluate, and provide feedback to teachers and support staff to improve instructional effectiveness using RIDE approved evaluation tools.
- Identify professional learning needs and implement targeted professional learning to enhance teacher capacity.
- Provide onboarding and mentoring for new staff on curriculum and instructional models.
- Lead weekly staff meetings and communications (such as weekly memos, newsletters) to communicate key priorities and strategies. Student Achievement & Data-Driven Instruction
- Analyze both state-level and school-level achievement data to identify trends and drive instructional improvements.
- Develop and implement a plan to monitor and reduce student failure rates through intervention strategies.
- Oversee state assessment preparation and administration to ensure compliance and maximize student performance.
- Lead the development and implementation of a strategy to meet new graduation requirements and support student success. Equity & Support for Special Populations
- Serve as the MLL Coordinator, ensuring appropriate instructional strategies, compliance, and supports for MLL students.
- Implement cultural responsive and sustaining education instructional practices that address the needs of diverse learners, including students with disabilities.
- Partner with families and community stakeholders to support student achievement and engagement.
Required:
- Master's degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a related field (preferred).
- Valid Rhode Island Build Level Administrator certification or credentials to apply for certification.
- At least 1+ years of instructional leadership experience, preferably in an urban or high-needs school setting.
- Deep knowledge of standards-aligned curriculum, HQIM, and data-driven instruction.
- Experience supporting MLL students and special populations through differentiated instruction.
- Strong ability to coach teachers, lead professional learning, and facilitate data-driven instructional planning.
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Commitment to equity and closing opportunity gaps for historically underserved students.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications and follows the school's approved salary scale.
