About Starwood Academy Starwood Academy of Frisco serves children aged 18 months through fifteen years and has provided a high-fidelity Montessori education to the Frisco community for over 25 years. Our leadership team is deeply rooted in Montessori philosophy, with 100% of our administrators holding Montessori credentials at one or more levels. Position Summary The Primary Guide is responsible for leading students' academic, social-emotional, and physical development within a prepared Montessori environment. This role supports each child in reaching their fullest potential through individualized instruction, observation, and intentional guidance aligned with Montessori philosophy and best practices. Scope of Role The Primary Guide works closely with the Director of Curriculum & Instruction to ensure the classroom and program operate in alignment with Montessori standards, school expectations, and overall educational excellence. Essential Functions Implement Montessori curriculum with fidelity Maintain a prepared, orderly, and engaging classroom environment Observe, assess, and document student progress Communicate effectively with families and school staff Supervise and support the Primary Assistant Ensure student safety and well-being at all times Participate in professional development and school initiatives Duties & Responsibilities Classroom Leadership & Instruction Implement and deliver the Montessori curriculum with fidelity Foster a structured, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment Guide students' academic, social, and emotional growth Establish and maintain classroom expectations that support independence and positive behavior Team Leadership & Collaboration Supervise and work collaboratively with the Primary Assistant Provide guidance on classroom responsibilities and expectations Meet regularly with the Primary Assistant to review student needs and classroom operations Participate in team meetings and collaborate with colleagues and leadership Student Observation, Assessment & Record Keeping Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of each child's academic and developmental progress Prepare and submit required reports, including conference reports (submitted prior to conferences) Observe and document student behavior and development Share relevant observations with the Primary Assistant and school leadership Family Partnership Communicate regularly and professionally with parents regarding student progress and well-being Conduct parent conferences and maintain records of all communications Collaborate with Administration and the Director of Curriculum and Instruction regarding student needs Classroom Environment & Operations Maintain a clean, organized, and fully prepared Montessori classroom Ensure proper care, use, and maintenance of all classroom materials Support a calm, orderly, and engaging environment conducive to learning Student Supervision and Safety Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times Report all accidents or incidents immediately and complete required documentation Supervise students during carpool, lunch, and recess Assist in emergency drills and safety procedures Professional Responsibilities and Community Engagement Participate in performance evaluations, including observations, self-reflection, and goal setting Engage in ongoing professional development and Montessori training Adhere to the Employee Handbook and school policies Model professionalism aligned with faculty excellence standards Attend school events, parent education sessions, and community activities as assigned
Qualifications Required:
MUST HAVE
AMS, AMI or MACTE Montessori Diploma (Early Childhood / 3-6) Bachelor's Degree CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain) Ability to pass background check Authorization to work in the
United States Skills & Competencies:
Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues Collaborative mindset and team-oriented approach Strong organizational and record-keeping skills Commitment to Montessori philosophy and child-centered education Work Schedule Monday-Friday, approximately 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Occasional evening or weekend responsibilities for events or meetings School holidays and breaks observed, unless otherwise required Work Environment and Physical Requirements Ability to lift classroom materials up to 20 lbs and children up to 40 lbs Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods of time Work in a standard classroom environment and outdoors during carpool and recess Support classroom setup and preparation of materials We offer continued professional development, a vibrant community of team members, paid holidays, four weeks of paid vacation, health insurance and retirement plans.
