Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree
Valid Texas teacher certificate
Experience:
Three (3) years successful teaching experience in public schools
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Ability to coordinate testing with campus personnel
Advanced computer and technology skills

District Testing Coordinator
Primary Purpose:
To facilitate the implementation of the state assessment program, including the
coordination of training, materials, district-level support, and investigations. To ensure
the security of state assessment materials and results. Collaborate with district staff
and outside personnel to formulate, develop, implement, and evaluate assessment
programs.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Assessment Program Management
1. Monitor state and federal regulations regarding state and federal assessment
programs (e.g., STAAR, TELPAS, etc.).
2. Coordinate state and federal assessment programs including ordering
materials, pre-registering students (when available), and managing distribution and
collection of secure and non-secure testing materials.
3. Ensure data integrity as related to state and federal testing systems, including
transmission of student registration files, receipt of student result data files, and
transferring assessment result files to appropriate data systems (e.g., Ascender,
OnData Suite, DMAC, etc.).
4. Train campus testing coordinators and district staff on procedures and
guidelines of the Texas State Assessment Program, including materials management,
confidentiality, and test security.
5. Monitor additional Rater training required for specialized assessments (e.g.,
STAAR Alt 2, TELPAS) and determine process of certification record maintenance.
6. Collaborate with other departments in order to ensure the successful
implementation of the state assessment program for specialized student groups (e.g.,
ELL, SPED, etc.) that may require accommodations, modifications, etc.
7. Maintain processes for state and federal testing irregularity and incident
reporting that include investigations as warranted and/or directed by district, state, or
federal officials.
8. Advise Superintendent and other stakeholders of student assessment results
and campus/district assessment performance.
9. Assist campus/district leadership to support data disaggregation and analysis
associated with state and federal assessment programs.
10. Provide resources and materials to support campus/district staff in
accomplishing student assessment goals, including use of quality tools, charts, surveys,
quantitative/qualitative analysis, and research-based solutions for reports.
11. Serve as liaison between school/district and other agencies related to state
and federal assessment programs.
Policy, Reports, and Law Responsibilities
12. Compile, maintain, and file all assessment reports, records, and other
documents required, including mandatory reports to state and federal agencies.
13. Comply with policies established by state and federal law, State Board of
Education rule, and local school board policy.
14. Monitor state and federal legislative processes for potential impact on
assessment and accountability systems.
Additional Responsibilities
15. Articulate the district's mission, instructional philosophy and curriculum
implementation strategies to the community and solicit its support in realizing the
district's mission.
16. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and
clearly.
17. Respond in an efficient and timely manner to directives, tasks, or projects
assigned by the superintendent, assistant superintendent, or Director of Teaching and
Learning
Dyslexia Specialist
Primary Purpose:
Identify dyslexic students by administering and interpreting diagnostic tests. Provide
therapy to identified dyslexic students. Apply knowledge of federal, state, and district
procedures for general and special education. Instruct and evaluate students with
dyslexia in any phase of the program. Assist teachers in utilizing effective reading
practices within the classroom setting. Assist in coordination of Section 504 referral
process and instruction of students with dyslexia. Provide instructional support and/or
direct instruction, as mandated by Texas law, for students with dyslexia. Provide 504
and special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to help
them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Develop
or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to student
ability levels. Work in itinerant capacity as assigned.
Special Knowledge/Skills :
Extensive knowledge and experience working with students who have reading
difficulties
Understand and able to explain Section 504 law/procedures, test results and
information to parents and teachers is necessary
Ability to share expertise with peers
Strong oral and written communication skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies
1. Work collaboratively with building staff to deliver exemplary reading
instruction to dyslexia students.
2. Coordinate with other involved school personnel in planning and providing
reading instruction for students.
3. Provide staff development and coaching to campus personnel on reading
issues.
4. Provide instructional services to those students who have been identified for
dyslexia services.
5. Keep accurate and complete records
6. Act as the liaison to building personnel in interpreting educational policies,
procedures and guidelines concerning dyslexic students.
7. Assist in evaluating students who have been referred to the dyslexia program
for testing and provide periodic evaluation and exit consideration from the
dyslexia.
8. Participate with teachers, parent(s), campus administrators in determining
qualification for 504 dyslexia services.
9. Assume responsibility for instructional materials and equipment inventoried to
the dyslexia teacher and the assigned school.
10. Attend district and campus meetings involving reading programs and
programs for dyslexic students.
11. Attend training in methods and strategies that improve general reading and
dyslexia instruction.
12. Assist in documenting student progress and monitoring students in the
dyslexia program.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

14. Establish and maintain open lines of communication by conducting
conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
15. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and
community members.
16. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and
clearly.
Other
17. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
18. Keep informed of and comply with federal, state, district, and school
regulations and policies for 504 and special education teachers.
19. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records,
and other documents required.
20. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on committees as
required.
