Job Description:
IDEA Public Charter School is seeking a strong instructional leader to serve as an Academic Director with a focus on Career & Technical Education (CTE). This leadership role is similar to an Assistant Principal position and is responsible for supporting high-quality teaching and learning across the school, with a particular emphasis on developing and strengthening CTE programming. The Academic Director will serve as a member of the school's core leadership team and play a key role in advancing the school's academic vision, instructional systems, and postsecondary mission. The ideal candidate is highly organized, instructional-focused, and passionate about preparing students for success in college, careers, and life. The Academic Director will coach and support teachers, oversee curriculum and course development, evaluate instructional staff, help lead school-wide initiatives, and ensure strong classroom instruction aligned to the school's goals and expectations. Key Responsibilities Develop, refine, and oversee academic and CTE courses and programming Attend CTE meetings on behalf of the school to understand broader context across Washington, DC Provide instructional coaching, feedback, and professional development to teachers Conduct classroom observations and teacher evaluations Support the implementation of school-wide academic and instructional initiatives Monitor student achievement data and support continuous improvement efforts Collaborate with school leaders to strengthen curriculum, instruction, and school culture Support teacher planning, lesson development, and instructional alignment Help coordinate CTE partnerships, career readiness opportunities, and credentialing pathways Serve as an active member of the school's core leadership team Foster a culture of high expectations, professionalism, and continuous growth
