Starting Date:
Aug 27, 2026 Job Description Are you a Special Educator who believes that a learning disability is just a different way of processing the world? Do you thrive on seeing that "aha!" moment when a math concept finally clicks or a student masters a new literacy skill? We're looking for a dynamic Special Education Teacher to join our team at Woodstock Elementary School. This isn't just about paperwork and timelines; it's about changing student outcomes through foundational instruction, executive function coaching, and SEL support. Why You'll Love This Role
Creative Freedom:
Lead the charge in structured literacy and math while designing how paraeducators and related services integrate to support the "whole child."
Culture of Connection:
We value equity, inclusion, and the human side of teaching. If you bring a sense of humor and a flexible mindset, you'll fit right in. What You Bring to the Table
Expertise:
You know your way around mild-to-moderate learning disabilities and how to move the needle on student growth.
Connection:
You're an ace communicator who builds bridge-strong relationships with families, specialists, and fellow educators.
Reflective Insight:
You believe a positive learning environment is built on empathy, equity, and—let's be honest—the ability to laugh when things don't go exactly as planned. What Will you do?
Case Management & Compliance:
Lead the IEP process from evaluation to implementation. You'll manage student records with precision, ensuring all services align with state/federal laws and district policies.
Instructional Leadership:
Provide direct, research-based instruction (academic and SEL) in 1:1 or group settings. You'll model differentiated instruction and modify classroom materials to ensure every student can access the curriculum.
Expert Assessment:
Administer and interpret a variety of evaluations—from standardized tests to behavioral observations—to track progress and determine eligibility.
Team Collaboration:
Partner with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to create a unified support system. You will also direct the daily work of paraeducators to maximize student impact.
Behavioral Support:
Develop and monitor proactive behavior management and crisis intervention plans that prioritize a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
Community & Advocacy:
Serve as a champion for your students within the school and broader community, participating in district committees and school events to drive program excellence.
What We're Looking For:
We seek an innovative and flexible educator who is committed to developing and growing a program that maximizes student potential.
The ideal candidate will:
Hold or be eligible for a Vermont Educator License with an appropriate Special Education endorsement. Demonstrate a strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education. Possess excellent interpersonal, communication, time management and collaboration skills. Have experience and knowledge in structured literacy and the science of reading. Create a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment tailored to students' individual learning styles. Utilize data-driven decision-making to inform instruction and program development. Have expertise in integrating technology to support differentiated instruction. Understand the diverse needs of students and the impact of demographic factors on achievement. Be committed to continuous professional growth and innovative educational practices. Why Join Us? In the Mountain Views Supervisory Union, we are committed to our vision: Locally Inspired, Globally Prepared, and dedicated to fostering an inclusive and culturally diverse learning environment. Please visit our website mtnviews.org, if you have not already, to see and read about the work we are doing. Candidates with international experience, multilingual abilities, or backgrounds that contribute to diverse perspectives are strongly encouraged to apply. We welcome applications from out-of-state candidates who are eligible for Vermont licensure. Our employees are offered a robust benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, a 403b retirement account with district contributions, embedded PD and PLC's as well as tuition reimbursement for up to 6 credits at the UVM rate. If you are a passionate educator eager to lead, innovate, and expand a program that empowers students to achieve independence and career success, we invite you to apply.
