POSITION SUMMARY
The Musical Theatre Dance Instructor provides training in dance and movement for musical theatre performers. The instructor develops students' technical skills, coordination, performance quality, and confidence while fostering a positive and energetic learning environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach dance techniques commonly used in musical theatre, including jazz, Broadway styles, theatre dance, and basic ballet foundations. Develop students' flexibility, coordination, strength, and stage presence. Choreograph routines and performance pieces for showcases and productions. Teach proper dance technique and injury prevention. Adapt choreography to various skill levels and age groups. Collaborate with voice and acting faculty to support integrated musical theatre training. Provide constructive feedback and mentorship. Maintain a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom atmosphere.
QUALIFICATIONS
Degree or professional training in Dance, Musical Theatre, or related field preferred. Professional performance, choreography, and/or teaching experience. Strong knowledge of musical theatre dance styles. Experience working with middle and high school students preferred. Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills. The ideal candidate will have flexible availability. Our students are primarily onsite Monday through Friday after 3 pm and on Saturdays.
