POSITION SUMMARY
The Musical Theatre Voice Instructor provides vocal training that develops healthy singing technique, musicality, performance skills, and stylistic understanding of musical theatre repertoire. The instructor helps students build confidence while fostering strong vocal habits and artistic expression.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach vocal technique, breath support, diction, tone production, and vocal health. Coach students on musical theatre repertoire and audition material. Develop students' musicianship, interpretation, and storytelling through song. Prepare students for performances, showcases, auditions, and productions. Assess student progress and provide individualized feedback. Collaborate with acting and dance faculty to create a comprehensive musical theatre training experience. Maintain a positive and encouraging classroom environment. Participate in faculty meetings, rehearsals, and program events as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Degree or professional training in Voice, Vocal Performance, Musical Theatre, or related field preferred. Strong piano skills are desirable but not required. Professional performance and/or teaching experience. Knowledge of healthy vocal pedagogy for young singers. Experience working with youth and adolescent performers preferred. The ideal candidate will have flexible availability. Our students are primarily onsite Monday through Friday after 3 pm and on Saturdays.

Support the mission of developing well-rounded performers through pre-professional conservatory training. Participate in performances, showcases, faculty meetings, and special events. Maintain open communication with administration, students, and families.

Orange County Music & Dance (OCMD) is a nonprofit performing arts school located in Irvine, California. Our mission is to nurture, inspire, and empower students of all ages through high-quality music, dance, and musical theatre education. OCMD offers a wide range of programs, including Early Childhood classes, private music instruction, Dance Discovery, ensembles, world music experiences, adult programs, and pre-conservatory and conservatory training pathways.
