About the Program Puppet Pals brings stories to life through creativity, imagination, and performance! In this engaging enrichment program, students create their own puppets, develop characters and dialogue, practice expressive storytelling, and perform fun puppet shows. Through hands-on activities and collaborative performances, students build confidence, communication skills, creativity, teamwork, and fine motor development in a fun and supportive environment. Position Overview We are seeking a fun-loving, energetic, and reliable Assistant Instructor to support our Puppet Pals enrichment classes for elementary-aged students. The Assistant Instructor will work closely with the Lead Instructor to help facilitate creative activities, encourage student participation, and maintain a positive and engaging classroom environment. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children and have a passion for creativity, storytelling, arts and crafts, drama, and imaginative learning experiences. Key Responsibilities Assist in delivering engaging Puppet Pals enrichment activities for elementary-aged students. Support students in creating puppets, developing characters, storytelling, and rehearsing performances. Encourage creativity, self-expression, teamwork, and active participation during activities and performances. Help students practice expressive reading, dialogue, and communication skills in a fun and supportive setting. Assist with arts and crafts preparation, classroom setup, cleanup, and organization of materials. Support classroom management and help maintain a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment. Encourage students' confidence and creativity throughout the program. Communicate effectively with Lead Instructors, operations staff, and parents when needed. Help ensure students remain engaged, motivated, and supported during class activities. Required Qualifications Fun, energetic, and engaging personality with a passion for working with children. Experience working with elementary-aged students in camps, schools, tutoring, theater, arts, or enrichment settings. Interest in storytelling, puppetry, performing arts, drama, crafts, or creative education. Strong communication, teamwork, and classroom management skills. Ability to encourage creativity, imagination, and confidence among students. Patience, adaptability, and empathy for students with different learning styles. At least 1 year of experience working with children. Minimum of 2 years of college education preferred. Ability to pass background checks and TB testing requirements. Reliable transportation to commute to school sites in Pinole. Ability to occasionally lift and carry approximately 20-50 lbs. with or without accommodations.
Schedule & Commitment Dates:
Summer 2026 (specific weeks discussed during interview)

9:00 AM - 12:00 PM (3-hour camp) Includes setup, preparation, and student dismissal Compensation $25-$32 per hour
Assistant Instructor:
3.5 hours of pay per 3-hour camp session (includes setup and cleanup support) High School Students and College Students are welcome to apply .
