STIPEND $3,249 stipend for Masters & additional $3,249 stipend for Doctorate (25/26 salary schedule) Job Summary Job Summary The Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) teacher will be responsible for implementing a well-planned and developmentally apporpriate visual and performing arts program according to the California Visual and Performing Arts Framework to kindergarten through 6th grade students. The teacher will provide instruction in multiple modalities, in the areas of visual and performing arts, which can include dance, music, media arts, theater, visual arts, painting, sculpture, photography, craft arts, creative expression including graphic arts and design, computer coding, animation, music composition, ensembles, script writing, costume design, film and video. To provide instructional program for assigned pupils. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
a. Teaches courses to assigned pupils as adopted by the State Board of Education and the Governing Board. b. Establishes and maintains a system of student evaluation and assessment with the guidelines prescribed in State law or adopted by the school district. c. Continually evaluates and records various aspects of students' progress and informs parents as needed and required. d. Teaches within the course of study for the subject area or at grade level as prescribed in State law or adopted by the school district. e. Understands and plans lessons leading to subject area objectives and student needs. f. Provides a variety of planned learning experiences using a variety of media and methods in order to motivate students and best utilize available time for instruction. g. Identifies pupils needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students resolve health, behavioral, and learning problems. h. Is available for parent conferences in or out of the seven hour work day. i. Participates in the development and revision of course outlines for the classes she/he teaches. This shall include goals and performance objectives for students, course content and learning activities, evaluative/assessment procedures, and instructional materials. j. Maintains classroom management and control sufficient to permit students to learn without undue interference, to provide for student safety and to protect school property. k. Structures a physical classroom environment that will facilitate opportunities for learning. l. Seeks good student-teacher and student-student interaction. m. Keeps records of student work, prepares progress reports, and maintains cumulative folders at appropriate grade levels. n. Administers state and district mandated tests. o. Maintains professional competence through participation in education activities provided by the District and/or in self-selected professional growth activities. p. other duties as assigned. ADJUNCT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
a. Performs basic attendance accounting and administrative tasks as required. b. Attends school and district meetings. c. Performs campus supervision as needed. d. Shares the responsibility of interpreting the educational program to the community through such activities as open house, back-to-school nights, and PTA meetings. e. Assumes the responsibility for written lesson plans for substitutes. f. Plans and coordinates the work of aides and other paraprofessionals and student teachers (when applicable). JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education/credential:
Possesses or qualified for a valid California teaching credential application to subject area. SUPERVISION
