Must have a DE Teaching license and certification in Theater Education Eligible for acceptance in an alternative routes for licensure certification program to teach theater Prefer a degree in Theater Education or a degree in a related Arts area with experience in theater/drama. Prefer experience in managing performance spaces.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Instruction:
Instruction based on a competency-based curriculum and/or student and industry needs. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media â€" to include safety, design, construction, operation, and other related activities relating to the trade. Present subject matter to students, utilizing a variety of methods and techniques, such as lectures, discussions, or demonstrations; insures use of classroom time is organized and that instruction and clean-up can be accomplished within the allotted time. Direct the fall and spring theatrical production determined in collaboration with the Arts Academy. Maintain and improve professional competencies in technical theater field and effective instructional practices. Establish and maintain open basis of communication with students, parents, staff, administration and community. Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district and administrative policy. Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules and maintain discipline according to handbook. Perform other duties/tasks as assigned by the administration
Theater Supervision:
Establish and maintain theatrical calendar, purchasing, receiving, storing, design, build, maintenance, operation, and management of the technical and theatrical performance operation. Knowledge and experience to teach two Practical Technical Theater courses to include hands-on building of scenery, hanging, focusing, and programming of both conventional and automated lighting for all arts performances, design and operation of a sound environment, and support of all creative and performing arts programs scheduled in a recently renovated teaching-theater. Maintain a working relationship with all CSD schools to organize a working calendar and schedule of facilities usage to support all scenic builds, rehearsals for internal and external facility requests, performances, assemblies, and other performances. Manage student crew members to fully support all performances and rehearsals for both internal and external theater requests. Assume responsibility for ordering supplies and equipment to meet the needs of the students. Maintain an active inventory of supplies and sales. Perform other duties/tasks as assigned by the administration
