Position Overview The Theater Arts Instructor will design and facilitate engaging theater experiences that build communication skills, creativity, confidence, teamwork, and stage presence. Students may range from elementary through middle school and include learners with diverse strengths, interests, and learning styles. The ideal candidate understands how to create an inclusive environment where every student can participate, grow, and experience success. Responsibilities
- Facilitate engaging theater, acting, improvisation, and performance classes.
- Teach foundational performance skills including voice, movement, expression, storytelling, character development, and stage presence.
- Create student-centered learning experiences that encourage creativity and collaboration.
- Direct and coordinate student showcases, performances, or theatrical productions.
- Foster a positive, encouraging classroom culture where students feel safe to take creative risks.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Collaborate with CIA staff to integrate theater with broader learning experiences when appropriate.
- Communicate professionally with families and leadership regarding student growth and program needs.
- Maintain a highly organized, engaging, and inspiring learning environment. Qualifications Required
- Experience teaching, directing, coaching, or facilitating theater programs with children or adolescents.
- Strong classroom leadership and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences.
- Passion for helping students develop confidence and self-expression. Preferred
- Degree or professional training in Theater, Performing Arts, Education, Communications, or a related field.
- Experience directing youth productions.
- Background in improvisation, musical theater, public speaking, or performance coaching.
