Job Description

Waldorf Mentor Kona Pacific Public Charter School is seeking a passionate and experienced Full Time Waldorf Mentor to support the development and implementation of our Waldorf-inspired educational practices. This position plays a vital role in being part of a team cultivating a culture of creativity and holistic learning. The mentor will work to promote community-centered education by fostering the growth of faculty and staff in Waldorf principles, providing guidance in curriculum planning, steering professional development, and nurturing a positive learning environment for our students. The position will include teaching a Specialty Class to 1st - 8th grade levels. Key Responsibilities Provide mentorship and training to faculty and staff on Waldorf-inspired methodologies, including main lesson content, storytelling, and arts integration. Conduct classroom observations and model classroom instruction to provide constructive feedback on instructional techniques and student-teacher interaction. Assist faculty and staff in understanding, and integrating developmentally appropriate Waldorf education principles with State Standards education. Collaborate with faculty and staff to enrich curriculum with Waldorf principles, including rhythmic lesson planning, nature-based education, and artistic activities. Offer insights on incorporating seasonal themes and cultural traditions into lessons. Work with faculty and staff to identify development areas, set professional goals, and create tailored plans to enhance skills and pedagogical knowledge. Lead workshops and provide resources to support faculty and staff in developing their Waldorf-based instructional skills. Actively participate in faculty meetings, and professional development opportunities to help promote a vibrant learning community. Participate in the planning and execution of school festivals. Inspire and support teachers in integration of the Waldorf Arts into daily lessons within all grade levels (e.g. Rhythms, Handwork, Watercolor, Painting, Drawing, Drama, Music, etc.). Provide feedback on the use of arts to enhance student engagement and learning. This position will include developing Waldorf Arts Curriculum and teaching Waldorf Arts to grades Preschool - 8th as a Specialty Class. In this role, the mentor will provide timely and meaningful feedback to students and parents in the context of subject goals and the school's progress report systems. Qualifications An understanding of Waldorf pedagogy, philosophy, and practices.
Candidates would ideally have:
Experience teaching or mentoring in a Waldorf-inspired setting. Certification in Waldorf education or equivalent experience. Experience in Waldorf arts (e.g., visual arts, eurythmy, storytelling, handwork) Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds. Flexible mindset and ability to support Waldorf-inspired practices in a positive and forward-driven manner, understanding that it is one of five core tenets of the school and not the sole driving force. Ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with teachers, parents, and administration to foster strong relationships and alignment with the educational program and its objectives.
