Job Description

Position Overview The Choir and Theatre Teacher will lead and continue to grow a dynamic vocal music and theatre program across grades 6-12. This individual will foster creativity, collaboration, and student confidence through performance-based instruction and opportunities both in and out of the classroom. Required Qualifications Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate Music (JQ or JX) or Theatre/Drama endorsement (or ability to obtain) Must meet Highly Qualified requirements per Michigan Department of Education standards Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, staff, administration, and the community Preferred Personal and Professional Competencies Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to manage multiple performances, events, and responsibilities Passion for the performing arts and a commitment to student growth Desire for continuous professional growth and collaboration Major Job Responsibilities Teach middle and high school choir and theatre courses aligned with district curriculum Plan, direct, and produce musical performances, concerts, and theatrical productions Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that encourages student expression and creativity Collaborate with colleagues and participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to support student growth Build strong relationships with students and families and communicate regularly regarding student progress and program activities Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and achievement Utilize a variety of assessment strategies to monitor student progress Supervise students during performances, rehearsals, and school-related events to ensure safety Set and pursue professional growth goals through ongoing development opportunities Comply with all School Board policies and state/federal regulations Apply online: https://jobs.redroverk12.com/org/1002 It is the policy of the Watervliet Public Schools that no person shall, on the basis of sex, religion, age, marital status, race, color, national origin, ancestry, weight, height, or handicap be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination in employment or any of its programs or activities.
