Choir/Drama Teacher Supervisor:
Principal Exempt General Job Description:
The Choir/Drama Teacher will provide guidance and instructional experiences that are academically and developmentally appropriate for each student assigned to that classroom. This position will also teach a piano class and an AP Music Theory course.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree Valid New Mexico teaching license with endorsements as needed. Must be a certified music teacher who has specialized training or education in choral music and drama. Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 50 lbs.), reaching, squatting, kneeling and moving light furniture may be required.

Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 50 lbs.), reaching, squatting, kneeling and moving light furniture may be required Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provide performance opportunities for the ensemble—a minimum of 2 per year, which will include at least one "full group" rehearsal prior to the performance. Provide opportunities for students to be part of auxiliary choral ensembles and help students prepare for state and national choral ensembles. Build and maintain a successful choral program and successful choruses. Keep accurate attendance records for performances and rehearsals. Keep accurate assessment records. Teach choral techniques, including but not limited to: blend, balance, phrasing, style, good tone production and quality, proper breathing and proper vowel forma­tion. Provide opportunities for the choral program to be part of district, state, regional and national music events. The teacher recognizes student diversity and creates an atmosphere conducive to the promotion of positive student involvement and self-concept. The teacher demonstrates a willingness to examine and implement change as appropriate. The teacher works productively with colleagues, parents, and community members. The teacher follows board policies and administrative rules and regulations. The teacher will work with the special education teacher(s) to design and implement the IEP of any special needs student assigned to that classroom. Build and maintain a successful drama program. Teach performing techniques, including but not limited to: acting, improvisation, style and stage deportment. Provide performance opportunities for the ensemble—minimum of 2 per year. Coordinate efforts of parents to assist with publicity, program ad sales, costumes, etc. Work Environment Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision. After hour work may be required.
