Community School Explore! Community School is seeking a Part-Time Theatre Instructor to support our 5th-8th grade students. This role is designed for someone who believes in the power of the arts to build confidence, creativity, collaboration, communication, and self-expression in students. The Theatre Instructor will lead engaging theatre classes that help students develop performance skills, imagination, teamwork, and student voice while aligning with Explore!'s mission of providing a challenging education in a joyful and supportive environment. Schedule & Compensation This is a part-time position. The instructor will teach either Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Tuesday/Thursday each week, depending on program need and candidate availability.

PM Class Blocks:

Class 1: 12:10-12:45 PM Class 2: 12:45-1:30

PM Compensation:

$7,500 per year, paid hourly. Key Responsibilities The Part-Time Theatre Instructor will: Plan and lead engaging theatre lessons for students in grades 5-8. Create a joyful, safe, and supportive learning environment where students feel confident expressing themselves. Teach foundational theatre skills, including voice, movement, character development, improvisation, stage presence, and performance etiquette. Support students in building confidence, creativity, collaboration, communication, and leadership skills. Maintain clear routines and expectations that support student engagement and positive behavior. Encourage student independence, creative risk-taking, teamwork, and self-expression. Collaborate with school leadership and staff to ensure programming supports the overall student experience. Prepare students for small performances, showcases, or presentations as needed. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is passionate about working with middle school students and understands the importance of student voice, creativity, and belonging. This person should be dependable, engaging, flexible, and able to build strong relationships with students. The ideal candidate should also be comfortable creating a structured yet creative classroom environment where students feel seen, heard, challenged, and celebrated. Purpose of the Role This position supports Explore!'s mission by giving students access to meaningful arts-based and project-based learning experiences. Through theatre, students will develop confidence, creativity, communication skills, social skills, and leadership while learning how to express themselves in a positive and powerful way.
