Job Description
Secondary Theater/Art Teacher for 2026-27 school year Description Overton ISD is seeking a passionate and creative High School Theater and Art Teacher to join our team. This position is responsible for teaching theater and visual arts classes, directing One Act Play and school productions, and inspiring students to explore their artistic talents. The ideal candidate will have strong classroom management skills, a deep understanding of both performing and visual arts, and the ability to engage students in creative expression.
Education/Certification Requirements:
Valid Texas teaching certification in Theater and/or Art (or ability to obtain), or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI) Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Theater, Art Education, or related field (preferred) Previous teaching and directing experience preferred Bachelor's degree from accredited universityQualifications and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans for theater and art courses Direct school plays and theater productions Teach a variety of art techniques, mediums, and history Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment Organize and display student artwork and performances Collaborate with other staff for cross-curricular projects and school events Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Ability to instruct students and manage classroom behavior Cooperate with administration and other district groups for use of auditorium/theater space Why work atOVERTON ISD?
