Job Description

Position Start Date 8/11/2026 Salary/Wage Per Negotiated Contract Appointment Type Part Time Description The School District of La Crosse is accepting applications for a 0.09 FTE Theater Teacher at Central High School beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. This position will be held first semester teaching one class at Central High School.
Projected start date:
August 11, 2026 Wisconsin certification 1325 - Theater is required. Prefer applicants possessing the following qualifications: Knowledge of current practices and methodologies in the teaching of theatre. Knowledge of and ability to teach students with special needs. Knowledge of and ability to effectively use technology in the theatre classroom. Minimum of 3-5 years of successful experience.
Skills necessary include:
Excellence in theatre performance ability. Excellence in rehearsal management techniques. Excellence in directing. Excellence in knowledge of vocal literature and pedagogical methods. Excellence in interpersonal skills.
Position responsibilities:
Instruction of theatre Provide individual and/or small group lessons as needed Conducts small group and full rehearsals Presents formal and informal productions throughout the school year Develops and plans instructional activities, lesson plans and/or individual educational plans Conducts classroom instruction based on curriculum Monitors student performance and behavior and takes appropriate action Participates in parent/teacher conferences. Interprets student strengths, weaknesses and/or problems students may be experiencing in the classroom. Collaborates with other staff in evaluating individual student problems, approaches to instructional units, and new teaching technologies or procedures available. Develops student assessments, evaluates and reports results. Maintains and provides accurate records as required. Participates in curriculum review, staff development and/or training, and keeps abreast of information in the field of education. Directs theater productions as assigned. Completes additional tasks as required by administrators.
