Regular, Part-Time, Non-Exempt Job Summary:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and patient Driving Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and a commitment to helping students become safe and confident drivers. You will be responsible for providing practical driving lessons, guiding students through driving theory, and assessing their progress to ensure they meet the required standards for obtaining a California Class-C driver's license. Must be willing to obtain a Driving Instructor's License.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct Driving Lessons:
Provide individual lessons to students of various skill levels, from beginners to advanced learners.
Teach Driving Theory:
Explain road rules, traffic regulations, and safe driving practices.
Assess Skills:
Evaluate students' driving abilities and progress, providing constructive feedback to improve their skills in a kind manner. Prepare for
Tests:
Help students prepare for practical driving tests, including mock exams and review sessions.
Maintain Records:
Maintain a checklist of individual student's progress.
Ensure Safety:
Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure that both the instructor's vehicle and the driving environment are safe and compliant with regulations.
Customize Instruction:
Tailor lessons to meet individual student needs and learning styles.
Handle Administrative Tasks:
Manage communication with students and their families as needed.
Stay Informed:
Keep up-to-date with changes in traffic laws, driving regulations, and best practices for driver education.
Qualifications:
Valid Instructor's License:
Possess a valid California driving instructor license and current driving record.
Proof of Insurance:
Possess current California auto insurance.
Driving Experience:
Must be 21years old and over and have had a California Class-C driver's license for at least 3 years with a clean driving record.
Teaching Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and patiently.
Knowledge of Road Safety:
In-depth knowledge of road safety, California traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and best practices.
Adaptability:
Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles and levels of ability.
Problem-Solving Skills:
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle stressful situations calmly, safely, and effectively.
Reliability:
Must be able to work mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Customer Service:
Excellent customer service skills. Smoke/vape/tobacco-free, drug-free workplace, even on breaks. Must be ok with camera recording while providing a lesson, inside and outside of the vehicle.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental Conditions:
Drives a vehicle extensively with occasional office environment to complete written documentation. Maintain a flexible schedule that involves night and weekend work.
