Job Description

Job Title Full Time Evening Truck Driving Instructor The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Northwest is accepting applications for a full time Truck Driving Instructor for the evening program at the Newbern Campus.
Salary:
Commensurate with education and experience and according to salary guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents.

Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Required Qualifications Candidates must have a high school diploma. Must hold a valid commercial driver's license in Tennessee with a minimum of three years of experience as an over-the-road driver with an exemplary record. Must possess good verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to organize and provide theoretical and practical instructional activities to enable students to obtain CDL. Computer skills including general knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Skills in managing deadlines and working in a team-oriented environment. Teaching experience. Possess organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective instructor. Strong customer service skills. Responsibilities The Truck Driving Instructor is responsible for teaching all phases of the program to include safety regulations, CDL regulations, traffic laws, road atlas, and highway routes, instruments and cab controls, engine and air brake systems, adverse weather condition driving techniques, hazardous materials transportation, clutch, gear and transmission patterns, coupling and uncoupling trailers, obstacle course and backing procedures, defensive driving, and over-the-road driving experiences. Must maintain an active advisory board committee and communicate with business and industry partners on a regular basis. Other duties include curriculum development and updates, student record keeping, student recruitment, placement and follow-up of program graduates, and program budgeting.
