Aug 31, 2026 Job Description Applications will be accepted for an Instructor of Auto Collision Repair in the Westfield Public School District at Westfield Technical Academy for an anticipated opening.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaches auto body skills and knowledge to provide students with competence to be an economic asset to the employer. Instructs students in citizenship, basic communication skills and other general elements of the course of study common to all teachers, as specified in state law, administrative regulations, and procedures of the school system. Develops lesson plans and organizes class time so that preparation, instruction, shop work, and clean-up activities can be accomplished within the allotted time following curriculum adopted by the school committee. Demonstrates auto body materials, equipment, tools and processes using standard or teacher-prepared models, mock-ups, sketches and other instructional aids. Guides students in selection and performance of appropriate activities. Provides individual and group instruction appropriate to the needs of the student(s) and the requirements of the activities being performed. Instructs students in the appropriate safety precautions and the safe operation and use of tools, machinery and equipment. Controls the storage, maintenance and use of materials and property to prevent loss or abuse. Evaluates student progress on a regular basis. Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, school policy and administrative regulation. Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and board policy. Communicates with employer, parents, and school counselors on individual student's progress. Identifies student needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems. Elicits industrial/commercial, labor input into all aspects of the educational program as required in Chapter 74. Promotes the integration of academic competencies into the technical program as required in Chapter 74. Has general knowledge of technology in Microsoft word, Excel, and Power point. Any other, appropriate duties assigned by the Principal and/or Director of the Vocational Technical High School.
REPORTS TO
Building Director The salary and terms of employment will be commensurate with Westfield Public Schools Unit A contract. Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Westfield School Committee policy on evaluation. Position subject to funding.
