We offer comprehensive clinical assessments, behind-the-wheel evaluations, and customized training to ensure our clients operate vehicles safely. Job Summary We are seeking a patient, compassionate, and highly skilled Driving Instructor to join our rehabilitation team. You will work one-on-one with clients—including novice drivers with learning challenges, adults recovering from injuries, and seniors—to teach practical driving skills in adapted vehicles. This role requires a unique blend of traditional driver education knowledge and specialized expertise in adapting instruction for various medical conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Behind-the-Wheel Instruction:

Provide in-car training to individuals with diverse needs, ensuring safety and confidence in varied road conditions (residential, highway, traffic).

Adaptive Equipment Training:

Instruct clients on the safe and proper use of adaptive driving controls (e.g., hand controls, left foot accelerators, steering devices).

Client Evaluation:

Collaborate with occupational therapists (OTs) and Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (CDRSs) to evaluate client readiness and monitor progress.

Lesson Planning:

Develop customized lesson plans tailored to the specific cognitive, visual, or physical needs of the client.

Safety Compliance:

Adhere to all state licensing regulations and the ADED Best Practice Guidelines for driver rehabilitation.

Documentation:

Maintain accurate, detailed records of driving sessions, skill development, and assessment results.

Qualifications Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Required:

State-licensed Driving Instructor.

Required:

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a driving instructor.

Required:

Clean driving record and valid state driver's license.

Preferred:

Certification as a Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (CDRS) or Driver Rehabilitation Professional (DRP).

Preferred:

Experience working with individuals with disabilities and seniors.

Preferred:

Experience working in a healthcare or or other rehabilitation setting.

Required Skills Exceptional Patience:

Ability to remain calm and composed while teaching clients facing anxiety or physical challenges.

Strong Observation Skills:

Ability to quickly identify potential safety issues and correct errors.

Excellent Communication:
