Immediately Job Description The Macon R-1 School District is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Driver/Trainer to join our transportation team. This position safely transports students while supporting bus drivers, assists with training requirements and helps ensure all buses meet district and Highway Patrol standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent Valid Class A or B CDL with S (School Bus) and P (Passenger) endorsements Knowledge of CDL Driver Licensing and laws for school bus drivers Two years of successful experience as a school bus driver Missouri Certified School Bus Driver Instructor (DESE & MOAPT) or willing to certify Registered with the Entry Level Drive Training Registry or will to certify Safe driving record Successful completion of district training program
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provide classroom theory with behind the wheel instruction on safety protocols, defensive driving, and Missouri motor vehicle regulations; Maintain and provide training for drivers to meet in-service and renewal requirements; Ensure all training aligns with Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) sequence and registry requirements; Assess driver performance, knowledge, and skills to ensure maximum efficiency and legality; Conduct oneself in accordance with all driver rules and regulations established by the State, local Board of Education, and Superintendent; Undergo a medical examination by the District's nurse at least 90 days prior to the school year; Coordinate closely with dispatchers and Transportation Director to align training schedules; Drive day Special Education routes; Drive day trips; Sub drive when needed;
Additional Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned or deemed appropriate by the Director of Transportation, Central Office Administrators or Superintendent.
Terms of Employment:
Salary and work schedule to be established by the Superintendent. Applications will be pulled 7 days after initial posting. If no candidate has been selected, position will remain open until filled.
