ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Summary/Objective:
The Professional Driver Instructor is responsible for the overall continuous training and development of current Delivery Professionals as well as all new employees enrolled in the Chaney Enterprises CDL Training Program. Under the general direction of the Training Manager, the Instructor performs duties related to delivering the appropriate instructional programs as set forth by Chaney Enterprises in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop their full driving potential as well as becoming a successful Chaney Enterprises Employee.
Essential Functions:
CDL Driving School Instructor Responsibilities:
Communicate with students to ascertain which of their abilities require further development. Tailor instruction to meet the needs of students, while still meeting targets set by the driving school. Prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities. Prepare classroom and range for class activities. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment. Use relevant technology to support instruction. Observe and evaluate student's performance and development and provide appropriate feedback on work. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students. Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development. Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, policies, and school regulations. Prepare required reports on students and activities. Manage student behavior in the classroom and on the range by enforcing rules and procedures. Maintain daily attendance sheet. Communicate necessary information regularly to students and colleagues regarding student progress and student needs. Keep up to date with developments in subject area. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
Non CDL school responsibilities include:
Evaluate new delivery professional progress and make determinations on readiness of the new driver to deliver Chaney Enterprises products independently. Communicate regularly with onsite trainer, plant manager and other appropriate personnel on the status of new hire training. Complete and sign off on task training for new Delivery Professionals. Continually promote and reinforce company policies, procedures, and safety measures. Lead by example. Act as a resource for all delivery professionals as needed.
Non-Essential Functions:
Support Human Resources in driver recruitment efforts and participate in Delivery Professional hiring events as needed. Perform road tests as needed for Delivery Professional candidates. Fill in as needed for colleagues. Volunteer and participate in company events.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Work Environment:
Work time will be split between indoors/office and outdoors/field Exposure to dust and fumes/offensive smells. Exposure to chemicals such as concrete, chemical admixtures, truck cleaner, grease, and oil. Proximity to moving mechanical parts. Noise level will be moderate to loud.
Physical Demands:
Lift a maximum weight of 100 lbs., repetitively lift 50 lbs., carry approximately 50 lbs., and push/pull 50 lbs., and pinch/grip approximately 25 lbs. Reach overhead and reach away from the body. Must be able to transport oneself in and around assigned territories.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
Experience operating a CDL vehicle (4 years minimum).
Special Skills:
Requires strong training skills & Flexibility Ability to work harmoniously with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients. Written communication, verbal communication, and basic mathematical skills. Ability to use a computer, including Microsoft Office. Excellent interpersonal skills. Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality. Excellent organizational skills. Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
Certifications:
Valid CDL Class B License with Airbrakes with a clean driving record (including no moving violations in last 12 months). Valid DOT physical and certification. Smith Driving System (preferred) CPR/First Aid (preferred)
Industry Related Experience or Skills:
Experience in or knowledge of the concrete industry - preferred but not necessary
