: Limited Full-Time Position Overview As a Public Safety Instructor at Auburn Career Center, you will bridge the gap between the classroom and the field. You are responsible for shaping the next generation of first responders by delivering high-quality lecture and hands-on laboratory instruction in our new state-of-the-art facility. Your mission is to foster a professional environment that promotes both the academic growth and the character development of workforce education students.Key Responsibilities:
Provide classroom instruction, including lectures, testing, classroom and lab supervision as assigned Develop a course syllabus and provide an approved copy to all invested parties Prepare and utilize approved lesson plans and examinations Prepare student progress reports and grade reports Maintain accurate and timely attendance records Maintain course related records Assists the program coordinator in preparation for periodic audits by the ODPS-Ohio Division of EMS,by ensuring procedures, file preparation, and clinical site management are within the confines of this code. Assist in the development and evaluation of curricula, philosophy, and objectives of the program Evaluate student competence, based on program philosophy and objectives Implement evaluation devices of student learning to measure progress and competency Upholds board policies and follows administrative procedures and program policies Promotes a favorable image of Auburn Career Center Assists in the development of rules/procedures that promote the proper use and care of equipment Prepares assigned instructional areas. Requests the requisition of essential supplies. Performs equipment safety inspections. Ensures that supplies and equipment are stored properly. Implements effective student management procedures. Maintains high academic standards and upholds the student conduct code. Refers major disciplinary issues to the Director of High School. Varies instructional techniques to address individual learning styles Participates in staff meetings and professional growth opportunities. Maintain professional qualifications through participation in continuing education programs, in-service training, and academic courses Use technology in classroom instruction and embed technology into student learning Maintain student and instructor confidentiality Accepts responsibility for decisions and conduct Strives to develop rapport and serve as a positive role model for others Conducting EMS Programs per Ohio Division of EMS regulations (OAC 4765-7-02) Perform other duties as required by the Director of High School.Qualifications:
To be eligible for this role, candidates must meet both industry-specific certification standards and state educational requirements for career-technical instructors. An Associate or Bachelor's degree in Fire Science or a related field is strongly preferred. Candidates must hold (or be eligible to obtain) a 2-Year Provisional Career-Technical Workforce Development License in the field of Public Safety. Must hold a current valid Ohio Firefighter II and EMT-Paramedic (or EMT-Basic) certifications . Must possess or be eligible for an Ohio Fire & Emergency Services Instructor certificate. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a paid Firefighter/EMT or Paramedic is highly preferred. Ability to be punctual and maintain an acceptable attendance record Must pass a comprehensive criminal background check and maintain a clean driving record. Drug-Free Workplace Requirement Employees shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his or her employment in the District in accordance with Board policy. Demonstrates adaptability and professionalism in a fast-paced school environment. Working Conditions ( typical of the environment; accommodations may be available, if requested ). Exposure to the following situations may range from remote to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable. Balancing, bending, climbing, crouching, kneeling, reaching or standing. Duties may require working under time constraints to meet deadlines. Exposure to adverse weather conditions and seasonal temperature extremes. Potential for exposure to blood-borne pathogens and communicable diseases. Potential interaction with disruptive and/or unruly individuals. Lifting, carrying and moving work-related supplies/equipment Duties may require frequent or occasional use of the computer keyboard and monitor.
