Commercial Driving Instructor South Carolina Rural Water Association Columbia, SC Job Details Contract $3,500 a month 1 day ago Benefits Travel reimbursement Qualifications Truck driving DOT Physical Certification Manual transmission Commercial driving Full Job Description South Carolina Rural Water Association Job Opportunity Commercial Driver Training Instructor Position Summary SCRWA seeks a professional instructor to deliver commercial driver training programs for water, wastewater, and other utility personnel throughout South Carolina. This role includes classroom instruction, hands-on range training, road skills coaching, and administrative recordkeeping. Primary Responsibilities Provide statewide CDL training including pre-trip inspections, basic control skills, backing maneuvers, coupling/uncoupling, and safe road driving. Train students of all experience levels, from entry-level applicants to CDL upgrades. Deliver classroom and field instruction using approved curriculum and teaching aids. Maintain certifications, attendance, records, and reports. Coordinate training logistics and supplies within budget. Travel statewide with overnight stays and occasional five-day onsite assignments. Minimum Qualifications Valid South Carolina driver's license. Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A preferred. Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate. Clean driving record and ability to meet insurability requirements. Demonstrated experience operating commercial vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions, trailers, and equipment-hauling combinations. Strong public speaking, instructional, and interpersonal skills. Reliable transportation and willingness to travel extensively with overnight travel up to five nights. South Carolina Licensing / Instructor Requirements Must meet all South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV) requirements to provide CDL skills training and instruction. Must hold any endorsements required for vehicles used in training (such as Air Brake qualification and applicable trailer/passenger/tank endorsements, if relevant). Must remain in good standing with all applicable federal and state licensing requirements. Compensation & Benefits Contract 1099 position paid per class instructed.
