Nashville, TN Job Details Part-time From $23.24 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Customer service Caregiving Confidential Clearance English Driver's License Working with children Full Job Description Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Van/Mini Bus Driver to join our vibrant afterschool youth program. In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely transporting children and youth to and from program activities, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being throughout the journey. Your positive attitude and excellent communication skills will help foster a welcoming environment for young participants while maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and adolescents in our community. Responsibilities Safely operate a van or mini bus to transport children and youth to designated locations, including schools, community centers, and activity sites Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure mechanical safety, cleanliness, and proper functioning of all systems Follow all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies during transportation duties Communicate effectively with children, parents, staff, and emergency responders as needed to coordinate pickups, drop-offs, and address any concerns Maintain accurate logs of trips, mileage, and passenger counts in compliance with transportation regulations Manage behavior on the vehicle using positive behavior management techniques to ensure a safe and respectful environment Assist with loading/unloading participants while providing excellent customer service and childcare support Experience Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience in bus or commercial driving preferred Prior experience working with children or youth programs is highly desirable Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle maintenance basics, and safety procedures related to school bus or paratransit driving Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for engaging diverse communities Mechanical knowledge of vehicles is advantageous for routine inspections and minor troubleshooting Ability to handle behavior management situations calmly and effectively Experience in customer service or caregiving roles such as senior care or childcare enhances your suitability for this position Join us in creating a safe, supportive environment where children can thrive!
