Day Camp Worker Salvation Army A Georgia Corp Arlington, TX Job Details Seasonal | Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Adhering to traffic regulations English High school diploma or GED Safe environment creation Full Job Description Leads children's youth and adult activities at TSA's North Texas Youth Education Town, including the after school program, summer day camps, classroom training, tutoring, sports activities, computer programs and specialized programs; assists educational partners with recreation and educational activities; assists in leading field trips; maintains the cleanliness of the after school area; transport passengers in a Salvation Army vehicle.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, nurturing, safe, secure and healthy manner. Provides positive, relaxed atmosphere during children's mealtime encouraging conversation. Exhibits control of the children and, when needed, displays proper discipline techniques. Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and required reports (attendance, development progress, discipline reports, etc.). Ensures the accountability, security and safety of children participating in after school activities and field trips; reports all accidents to the supervisor in an accurate and timely manner. Administers basic first aid as necessary; reports any health issues with supervisor in accordance to policies and procedures. Organizing, Planning, and Teaching Lessons (30%) Develops and implements lesson plans which are program specific; utilizes age-group appropriate discovery areas, enriched with program-specific activities, including teacher-made materials and hands-on activities. Determines appropriate supplies and materials for lesson plans and recreational activities; ensures the children's safety in utilizing the same. Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both indoor and outdoor learning activities. Supervises and participates in learning activities in community rooms and additional YET facilities. Maintains the program materials in an orderly fashion; maintains accountability for any laundry, money and supplies necessary for all programs. Cleaning Responsibilities (10%) Cleans the kitchen, classrooms, table, vehicles, floors, etc. in accordance with established sanitary standards.
Other Responsibilities:
Attends and participates in regularly scheduled in-service training sessions. May assist on group field trips, when needed can provide transportation to and from group events. Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements AND Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to observe children and ensure their safety. Ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle safely observing all laws, regulations, and policies. Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing and walking on a frequent change basis. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) frequently. Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or G.E.D. required, and One to two years' experience teaching child development programs, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities and Ability to pass all state licensing background checks.
Certifications:
Valid State Drivers License (Preferred) CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within an established timeframe)
