Overview Join our dynamic transportation team as a Paratransit Driver and become a vital part of providing accessible, safe, and reliable transportation services to diverse communities. In this energetic role, you will operate specialized vehicles designed to transport individuals with mobility challenges, seniors, children, and those requiring assistance. Your dedication will ensure passengers reach their destinations comfortably and securely, fostering independence and community connection. Responsibilities Safely operate paratransit vehicles, including buses and vans, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, providing support for those with mobility or behavioral needs Communicate clearly with passengers, colleagues, and dispatchers using effective verbal skills in English or bilingual formats Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and mechanical functionality Maintain accurate records of trips, passenger information, and vehicle logs Manage behavior and provide excellent customer service to create a welcoming environment for all passengers Follow routes efficiently while adjusting plans as needed based on passenger requirements or traffic conditions Requirements Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred but not mandatory depending on vehicle type Proven experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or school bus driving is highly desirable Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle inspections and troubleshoot minor issues Experience working with children or seniors is advantageous for understanding specific needs and behavior management techniques Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle challenging situations professionally Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, afternoons, evenings, or weekends as needed Knowledge of local traffic laws and safety regulations related to paratransit operations Embark on a career that combines active driving with meaningful community service!
