Job Description
At Thriving Roots Early Education, we believe children thrive when they are deeply connected to the natural world. We are looking for an adventurous, responsible, and grounded Forest Camp Guide to lead our summer program in American Fork Canyon, where children ages 6-12 explore, learn, and grow through nature-based experiences. This is a summer-only position , running through June and July, with a required training week at the end of May. About the
Role:
Our Forest Camp Guide creates a safe, engaging, and inspiring outdoor environment where children can build confidence, resilience, and curiosity. Rooted in nature-based and experiential learning, this role blends structured activities with child-led exploration. You will guide children through a forest and nature-themed curriculum while fostering connection—to the land, to each other, and to themselves.Key Responsibilities:
Lead a group of children (ages 6-12) in a daily outdoor camp setting Facilitate nature-based curriculum including exploration, group activities, and hands-on learning Create a safe, supportive, and engaging environment in an outdoor setting Encourage curiosity, teamwork, and respect for nature Maintain clear boundaries and safety expectations while allowing for exploration and independence Supervise children at all times, including during hikes and free exploration Communicate regularly with families and leadership as needed Support daily set-up, clean-up, and organization of camp materials Work collaboratively with your team to ensure a smooth and positive camp experienceTransportation Requirement:
Safely drive a 16-passenger bus to and from American Fork Canyon each day Ensure all transportation safety procedures are followed Maintain awareness and accountability of all children during transportQualifications:
Experience working with school-age children (ages 6-12) preferred Comfortable and confident in outdoor environments (hiking, weather changes, uneven terrain) Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Comfortable driving a 16-passenger bus (or willingness to be trained) Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Must pass background checkWhat We're Looking For:

Must be available for training at the end of May Must commit to the full months of June and July (no extended time off)Physical Requirements:
Ability to hike and be active for extended periods of time Comfortable lifting up to 40 lbs Ability to navigate uneven terrain and respond quickly in outdoor environmentsSchedule & Compensation:
