APPOINTMENTS FROM THE PART-TIME POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.
The Economics Area in the Orfalea College of Business at Cal Poly is seeking applications for a pool of part-time lecturers. Positions are available as determined by need and funding for teaching assignments in the principles of economics and/or upper level economics courses during the Fall and/or Spring semesters of the 2026-27 academic year, which begins August 17, 2026. Assignments are contingent upon class availability, scheduling, budget and enrollments. Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:Lecturer A:
$5,507- 6,677
Lecturer B:
$6,221- 13,224
Lecturer C:
$6,825- 14,523
Lecturer D:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in economics or related field required. Must maintain currency in professional field. Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language is required.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Doctorate in economics or related field preferred. Past experience in teaching in higher education and with evidence of excellence in teaching preferred. Relevant work experience and professional capabilities preferred.SPECIAL CONDITIONS
