Sensitive Position No Job Description Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia's capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Reynolds Community College seeks qualified applicants for the position of Accounting Instructor in the School of Business and Industrial Trades. This full-time, nine-month faculty-ranked appointment offers the opportunity to teach, mentor, and help shape the future of our Accounting program while contributing to a collaborative academic community. Teaching Responsibilities Faculty typically teach an average load of fifteen (15) credit hours per semester. Courses may be offered in a variety of formats, including: Day and evening classes Online instruction (synchronous and asynchronous) Hybrid/HyFlex delivery In-person instruction Dual enrollment courses with local high schools Assignments at multiple campus locations, as needed All Accounting (ACC) courses are delivered in online, hybrid, and/or HyFlex formats. Candidates must demonstrate experience and effectiveness in teaching online (synchronous and asynchronous) and hybrid/HyFlex courses. Proficiency with a learning management system and instructional technology is required. Faculty Expectations In addition to teaching excellence, faculty are expected to: Maintain regular, posted student engagement hours Provide academic advising and mentorship Participate in departmental, divisional, and college meetings Contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives Engage in institutional service and support student success initiatives Faculty schedules vary based on course assignments; however, availability is required to fulfill instructional and institutional responsibilities throughout the academic year. Department Chair Responsibilities In addition to serving as Accounting Faculty, this position includes Department Chair responsibilities. The Department Chair provides academic leadership and operational oversight for the Accounting program. Key responsibilities include: Providing curriculum leadership and instructional support to full-time and adjunct faculty Coordinating recruitment, selection, onboarding, mentoring, and evaluation of adjunct faculty in accordance with college policy Collaborating with the Dean of the School of Business and Industrial Trades on scheduling, staffing, budgeting, and program planning Partnering with the Accounting Advisory Committee to ensure alignment with industry standards, workforce demands, and accreditation requirements Leading program assessment, continuous improvement initiatives, and strategic planning efforts The Department Chair role requires demonstrated leadership ability, strong organizational and communication skills, and a commitment to student success, academic excellence, and workforce alignment. Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. KSA's/Required Qualifications Required Qualifications Master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Accounting. Minimum of two (2) years of related work experience and/or college-level teaching experience. Demonstrated ability to effectively use instructional technologies. Proven ability to teach in multiple modalities, including online (synchronous and asynchronous), hybrid/HyFlex, and in-person formats Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and written/oral communication skills Demonstrated commitment to inclusive teaching practices that support multicultural populations and promote diversity, cultural understanding, and equity Additional Considerations Preferred Qualifications Professional certifications such as CPA, CISA, or CIA. Industry experience with a national and/or large regional accounting firm. Experience with or knowledge of data analytics. Ability to teach college-level Accounting courses including: Principles of Accounting Intermediate Accounting Auditing Federal Taxation Cost Accounting Experience in curriculum development, distance learning, and/or course development. Strong subject matter expertise in accounting. Previous teaching experience in a community college setting. Operation of a State Vehicle No Supervises Employees No Required Travel None.
