THE UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH , DEPT. OF ECONOMICS
is searching for a full-time, one-year visiting lecturer (with the possibility of renewal) for undergraduate instruction beginning Fall 2026, pending budgetary approval. The appointment is outside of the tenure stream. Salary and benefits are competitive. Qualified candidates will have a PhD in economics and experience teaching Economics at the college/university level. Teaching or research experience in Sports Economics, Health Economics, Development Economics, or other Applied Microeconomics subjects is preferred. The Visiting Lecturer is responsible for delivering high-quality, undergraduate-level instruction within the department of economics for the duration of a one-year appointment. The primary focus of this role is teaching and student engagement, with an expectation of teaching three 3-credit courses in the Fall semester and three 3-credit courses in the Spring semester. The duties include teaching responsibilities and student support and advising. Teaching responsibilities typically include, but are not limited to, course instruction, curriculum development, assessment and evaluation, and learning management. Student support and advising typically include, but are not limited to, regular office hours, mentorship, and accessibility. The visiting lecturer is expected to attend departmental faculty meetings when requested and participate in relevant departmental activities, as appropriate for a visiting appointment. The visiting lecturer is also expected to follow University guidelines pertaining academic integrity and record keeping.
