Rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience. Duties and Responsibilities Teach the normal full time teaching load of 24 load hours per academic year for undergraduate courses in special education and/or elementary education focusing on inclusive teaching strategies for diverse student populations with the potential of teaching graduate classes in the future. Design interactive and engaging classroom experiences that integrates faith into the curriculum and adapts content for diverse learners while modeling evidence-based, inclusive pedagogy. Advise students on licensure requirements, degree progress, and professional development while coaching professionalism, including person-first/identity-first language and ethical practice. Develop and use assessment tools (e.g., rubrics, checklists) to measure student learning and program effectiveness. Contribute to accreditation reports and ensure compliance with state and national standards for educator preparation. Supervise and mentor pre-service teachers as an advisor as well as during their field experiences, including student teaching. Collaborate with Education Department colleagues to advance best practices in inclusive education and support the development of effective, innovative teaching practices. Serve the university, the community, and the profession through committee work, partnerships with local schools, participation in faculty governance, and professional organizations. Participate in professional development and continuing education to stay current with trends in elementary education, early literacy, and special education. Conduct scholarly research that contributes to the field of elementary education, early literacy, and/or special education. Possess excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication and organizational skills Typical Qualifications Candidates must have a personal, vibrant faith and Christian walk and be strongly committed to the educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the University. ABD may be considered. Evidence of significant effective instructional experience and a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching is essential. The candidate should have diverse teaching experiences and expertise in elementary education methods, particularly in special education. The successful candidate will contribute to our dynamic teacher preparation program by preparing future elementary educators who are competent, caring, reflective, and prepared for world service. Supplemental Information The Education Department comprises eleven faculty and staff and is accredited by CAEP and the Indiana Department of Education. Undergraduate Teacher Education candidates may obtain licensure in All-grade (P-12) Art and Music Education, K-6 Elementary Education, and Secondary Education (grades 5-12) offered in Biology, Chemistry, English, Mathematics, Mathematics/Computer Science, Physics, Physics/Mathematics, Physical Science, Social Studies and Spanish. Additional licensure offerings include Mild and Intense Intervention and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.
