Other Conditions:
On private funds, part-time with possibility of becoming full-time, annually renewable depending on performance and/or funding, to begin approximately July 1, 2026, subject to position clearance and availability of funds. 5% FTE with possibility of increasing based on funding availability.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for teaching, supervising, and training residents, specialty post resident trainees, and medical students on the pediatric hematology and oncology service. Responsibilities include supervising learners in clinical settings, facilitating multi disciplinary care conferences, and contributing to the pediatric medical curriculum. Teaching, supervising and training of residents and medical students who care for hematology/oncology patients during their inpatient rotation. Teach and mentor medical students/residents in the pediatric ambulatory unit. Participate in the development of curriculum activities and special instructional materials. Serve as resource person in their area of specialization and give lectures or conferences/ colloquia upon request. Provide education and support for patients and their families as well as teaching and supervision of medical students and residents and possibly teaching of graduate education programs; Perform research, quality improvement activities, clinical administration or comparable scholarly activity. Serve on Departmental and/or University committees within their scope of work. Provide service to the department, University, and community. Perform related tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
M.D. degree from a medical school of recognized standing. Board certified (within7years) or an active board candidate for certification in Pediatrics and in Hematology Oncology. Must have current Hawaii medical license by date of hire. A minimum of four years of full-time college or university teaching at the rank of assistant professor or four years of other medical Assistant Professor and other medical experience, or one year at the rank of Associate Professor at another medical school of recognized standing. Demonstrated ability in teaching, research, program administration and patient care. Proven ability in teaching, research, program administration and patient care. Recognition for having made a significant scholarly contribution to the clinical specialty. Clinical teaching experience and evidence of research productivity. Serve as a role model for students and junior colleagues; Poise and good address for meeting and conferring with others.
