Job Description

Job Summary The Assistant Head of School serves as a key member of the school leadership team and supports the Head of School in the daily administration, operations, and overall success of the school. This position provides leadership in academic oversight, staff supervision, student discipline, parent communication, operational management, and school culture, while helping ensure alignment with the school's mission and vision. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, who is passionate about Christian education and committed to fostering a positive, effective learning environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist the Head of School with the daily management and operations of the school Support the implementation of the school's mission, vision, policies, and strategic goals Provide leadership and supervision to faculty and staff Assist with teacher coaching, evaluations, professional development, and accountability Support curriculum implementation and academic excellence across grade levels Help oversee student discipline, behavior management, and school culture initiatives Communicate effectively with parents, staff, students, and community stakeholders Assist with student enrollment, retention, and admissions processes Coordinate school activities, events, testing, and special programs Monitor compliance with school policies, accreditation standards, and state requirements Support budgeting, staffing, scheduling, and operational planning Assist with crisis management and school safety procedures Maintain confidentiality regarding students, staff, and organizational matters Serve as acting administrator in the absence of the Head of School Perform additional leadership duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching and/or educational leadership experience Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment Strong classroom management and student discipline experience Proficiency with educational technology and school management systems Ability to build positive relationships with staff, students, and families Commitment to the mission and values of Christian education Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field Previous experience in private school or Christian school leadership Administrative certification or leadership training Experience with curriculum planning and instructional coaching Experience supervising staff and conducting evaluations Knowledge of accreditation standards and school compliance requirements Experience with enrollment management and parent engagement initiatives Budgeting, operational management, or strategic planning experience Compensation and Benefits Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications Suggested salary range: $55,000-$80,000 annually Paid holidays and school breaks Professional development opportunities Supportive, Christ-centered work environment Tuition discount opportunities may be available Work Schedule Full-Time Monday-Friday Occasional evening or weekend responsibilities for school events and activities Application Process Interested candidates should submit: Resume Cover Letter Professional References Applications may be submitted to: dmatthews@fmbc.org Scruggs Academy is committed to providing a Christ-centered educational environment focused on academic excellence, character development, leadership, and lifelong learning.
