Job Description

Internal Posting This position is posted in compliance with Alabama Code §16-22-15. It is the intent to place a current employee in this position. The Director of Student Services will serve as the primary point of contact for the campus and be actively engaged in the community. The Director of Student Services is responsible for day-to-day operations of the campus. The person serving in this position will facilitate the functions thereof which encompass events including admissions, testing, student records, student financial aid, student recruitment, registration, student engagement and student housing (if applicable).

Work Hours:
Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m.•5:30 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m.•11:30 a.m. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and must submit a complete application packet through the on-line application system to be considered. Responsible for all facets of leading a student services function college-wide as designated. Ensure that the College proactively complies with federal regulations, system policies and institutional policies related to college-wide functional area. Responsible for the development and implementation of institutional policies and procedures related to college-wide functional area. Responsible for maintaining and updating college publications related to college-wide functional area. In concert with the Dean of Students, assist with the development of annual student services objectives and strategies related to college-wide functional area. Campus Responsibilities Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Office of Student Services on Campus. Functional areas of responsibility include but not limited to student admissions and records, financial aid, testing, ADA, and special events. Serve as the primary point of contact for the campus and be actively engaged in the community. Responsible for the day-to-day safety and security of the campus. Coordinate the functional roles of the Office of Student Services with other divisions and departments of the campus/college. Coordinate with personnel to conduct meetings of all faculty and staff as needed on day-to-day campus matters. Develop annual Campus Student Services budget in cooperation with those staff members responsible for functional areas and supervise the administration of those budgets. Supervise the development and maintenance of student records in compliance with FERPA and within standards established by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Ensure title compliance with federal and state laws and regulations applicable to all student service functions. Support as needed with ORI 107 Student Survival Skills Class. Assist in the implementation of testing and assessment instruments in support of the admission and academic advisement, Provide transfer students with assistance and scholarship information. Coordinate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Campus student registration. Coordinate with the Director of Facilities and Campus Safety and Security to promote the efficient use of campus resources in maintenance and housekeeping by regular communication of campus needs and issues. Ensures that students and staff are informed about all programs and activities through campus-wide promotion and publication. Provide oversight associated with the development and coordination of a comprehensive student activities program of educational, recreational, social, and cultural programs which appeal to a diverse audience at the College and support the student experience. Evaluate campus Student Services personnel annually. Provide leadership in the professional development of the Student Services staff. Maintain affiliation with appropriate state, regional, and national professional organizations. Assist with student activities and programs for high school students and present awards and scholarships at various high school honors and awards ceremonies and/or other College Day activities. Supervise the development of measurable objectives and annual planning statement for the Office of Student Services in support of the strategic planning process. Serve as Campus Registrar Designee. Serve as chair of the Campus Scholarship Committee. Serve as a Disability Services Coordinator for the campus, as needed. Assist students as needed, with financial aid processes including receiving assessing and responding to questions from current and prospective students. Work in close coordination with Financial Aid Central processing Center personnel to ensure effective delivery and processing of student financial aid. Perform other duties as needed to support and facilitate the day-to-day operations of the Office of Student Services of Bevill State Community College. A minimum of a Master's Degree from an accredited institution in education, counseling or related field is required . A minimum of 3 years of working experience in student services or a related area in an educational setting is required.
