This position allows employees the opportunity to acquire life and job skills, as well as work experience while being reimbursed. This is also an opportunity for learning and growth in the skill gap areas that Alabama employers have deemed an urgent need in the labor force. Work is performed under the close supervision of skilled craft personnel in accordance with the Student Services departmental rules and regulations. This position serves as a primary front-desk contact for the Student Services Division and provides professional customer service to students, employees, parents, guests, and community partners. This position manages incoming calls, greets visitors, distributes general college information, supports departmental operations, and assists with student-facing activities such as registration, orientation, and campus visit coordination.
Salary Schedule:
L (Up to 19 hours per week) Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate the main telephone system, route calls to the appropriate office or employee, and record and deliver accurate messages. Greet visitors, students, and walk-in guests in a courteous and professional manner, assess needs, and provide general information about the college. Distribute informational materials such as admissions packets, catalogs, student handbooks, test schedules, and scholarship applications. Provide administrative support to the Student Services division and other assigned departments, including compiling data, preparing reports, and assisting with mail-outs and/or emails. Process incoming and outgoing mail and support routine front-office operations. Maintain accurate communication records and handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality. Assist students with registration, orientation, and general navigation of college services. Assist in scheduling and hosting campus visits, tours, and related outreach activities for schools, business and industry representatives, and prospective students. Use office technology effectively for word processing, recordkeeping, electronic communication, and data management. Participate in staff meetings, division meetings, committee assignments, and campus activities as required. Support college events and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and Directors within the division. Comply with all applicable college policies and Alabama Community College System requirements. Maintain regular and reliable attendance, as on-site presence is an essential function of the position. Other tasks as assigned by immediate supervisor and campus administration. Qualifications
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
: Eligible participants must be aged 16-24. Must have a household income below 200% of the 2021 Federal Poverty Level Guidelines and other ADHR requirements (Visit www.trenholmstate.edu for additional details).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to handle multiple priorities. Ability to read and write. Ability to lift, move or transport independently up to 30 pounds. Ability to traverse campuses. Prolonged standing and frequent bending and stooping. Ability to communicate well. Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and manage complicated tasks. Ability to work flexible hours. Ability to take and carry out orders.
