QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree in education and capability to secure the State of Alabama Professional Educator Certificate to practice as a school principal. Successful experience as an administrator in a school setting
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Embrace and promote the school system's mission, vision, beliefs, and goals. Ensure a safe, productive, and positive learning environment with high expectations for teachers, staff, students, and administrators. Develop a focus on students and the quality of work and learning experiences designed for students. Foster a culture of innovation and flexibility to ensure that students continuously learn at high levels and are prepared for an ever-changing world. Create and consistently enhance a learning environment that fosters students' curiosity, self-discipline, engagement, and ownership of learning. Champion learning by leading and active participation in professional learning activities within the school, system, and beyond. Model curiosity and share learning with students, teachers, staff, and parents. Demonstrate value and respect for each student, teacher, staff member, and parent. Recognize the potential and support each student, teacher, and staff member to reach his/her potential. Learn and utilize new strategies and technologies to engage students in challenging, authentic, and meaningful learning experiences. Embrace and ensure the teacher's role as facilitator, navigator, mentor, and encourager. Provide ongoing support for teachers, students, staff, administrators, and parents. Provide leadership, time, and resources to ensure that teachers design, redesign, and facilitate challenging, authentic, and meaningful work that appeals to students' motives, interests, and learning styles. Foster collaboration and provide highly quality professional learning opportunities to ensure that students are engaged in challenging, meaningful, and authentic learning experiences. Value and collaborate with community and global experts to create challenging, authentic, and meaningful learning experiences and projects for students - including the use of mentors, internships, apprenticeships, field trips, etc. Develop and foster a culture of participatory leadership among teachers, students, staff, and other administrators. Value and collaborate with parents as true partners in their children's education. Recruit and interview certified and classified staff who embrace the system's beliefs and will further the system's mission. Ensure that teachers and staff have the necessary resources and materials to engage students in challenging, meaningful, and authentic work and learning experiences. Solicit and incorporate the voice of students concerning their learning. Facilitate the use of a variety of tools to measure students' engagement and assess students' learning. Evaluate teaching and learning consistent with the system's mission, goals, and expectations. Review, share, and utilize data and make results-oriented decisions. Work cooperatively with all system staff, school staff, parents, community, etc. Be a leader in education and contribute to the field of education. Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and ethical standards and adhere to the Alabama Code of Ethics for Educators. Prepare and administer the school budget and supervise school finances. Follow federal and state laws and state and local board policies. Perform other duties as required by the superintendent

Job performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the State Department of Education and/or Pike Road Board of Education policy on the evaluation of certified administrative personnel.
