QUALIFICATIONS
: 1. Valid certificate to teach in Alabama. 2. Class "A" Alabama certification in educational administration. 3. Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience. 4. Administrative experience required.
JOB SUMMARY
To provide services that will enhance student attendance, conduct, and success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Enforce Alabama Compulsory Attendance Laws. Supervise the monthly and annual collection of attendance data. Confer with Juvenile personnel outside the school system as needed regarding student issues/concerns. Assist the Finance and Personnel Departments by providing and analyzing attendance statistics to calculate the number of certified and support units. Completes the annual Dropout Report to the State Department of Education. Provide information to parents and the public on all schools and attendance matters. Enforce the Tuscaloosa County School System's zoning policies. Serve as the system's Homeless Liaison. Assist in conducting home-school visitation. Assist in maintaining records of all discipline cases, suspensions, and expulsion. Assist the technology department with the submission of the Student Incident Report (SIR) to the Alabama State Department of Education. Develop and publish Code of Student Conduct and necessary policies (suspension, expulsion, etc.). Coordinate and conduct student hearings and present cases to the Board of Education. Place students in Alternative Classes. Conduct Pre and Post Placement Hearings for Alternative placement as assigned. Work with individual students who have attendance problems and their families. Serve as the system's principal contact for the Office of Civil Rights Data Collection. Assist in retrieving and furnishing copies of student records when requested. Represents the Tuscaloosa County Board of Education on community agencies and state committees as assigned. Assist in providing summary reports annually to the Board, Superintendent and State Department of activities in the department. Assist in securing grants for the system in the area of student services. Work cooperatively with parents/guardians in reducing student absenteeism Skills in public relations. Ability to work with community agencies. Effective oral and written skills. Mediation and facilitation skills. Ability to investigate out-of-zone, truancy and other attendance problems. Ability to use technology. Mobility, dexterity, and visual acuity to make home visits, and check on attendance zone violations. Assume other reasonable and equitable job-related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
