Summary of Job Duties:
Basic Functions The College Navigator will serve students from first contact through goal completion. The navigator will guide students through the enrollment process, including admissions, orientation, career assessment, academic advising, registration, and financial aid processes. This position will promote a holistic model of care and use a case management approach to retain the student through program completion. The navigator will be the primary point of contact for students. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institutional policy. Position Duties 70% - Admissions Counseling, Academic Advising, and Financial Aid Support Utilize a case management service model to increase student satisfaction, retention, program completion, and data collection. Keep applicants engaged with the college from first contact through goal completion. Monitor applicant progress throughout the enrollment process, respond to applicant inquiries, and provide information about the enrollment process. Assist students with career assessment. Assist students through orientation and onboarding processes, which include student rights and responsibilities and student familiarity with campus resources. Provide initial and continuous academic advising and course registration, ensuring efficient progress from program start to program completion. Assist students and families with financial aid completion including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), Arkansas' Scholarship Application Management System (SAMS), and institutional opportunities. May serve international students as a Designated School Official (DSO) under the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). May serve veteran and veteran dependent students as a School Certifying Official. Perform other duties related to enrollment and student success as needed. 20% - Student Services Support Address applicant/student questions and make appropriate referrals. Offer student support services guidance, including but not limited to, TRIO Student Support Services, Jobs for Arkansas Graduates, Career Pathways Initiative, UACCB (University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville) Foundation, Career Closet, the Learning Resource Center, mental health counseling, and veteran support. 5% - Recruitment Support Assist with recruitment, community, and transfer events. 5% - Institutional Support Serve on institutional workgroups and committees and attend training and professional development. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge Principles and practices of higher education student services, particularly within the community college mission. Federal, state, and local policies and regulations affecting higher education (e.g., FERPA, ADA/Section 504, Title IV, Title IX). Strategies to support student access and success. Use of institutional research, data analysis, and performance metrics for planning and evaluation. Current technologies supporting student services and academic operations. Workforce development, transfer pathways, dual enrollment, and community partnerships. Manage a caseload of 100-200 new and continuing students to ensure efficient enrollment and student support.
Qualifications:
Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies needed for a successful performance of the position's essential duties. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in a relevant academic discipline or in higher education/educational leadership. Two (2) or more years of progressively responsible student affairs experience.
