GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general direction of the Principal, the Assistant Principal improves the teaching and learning process within the middle school through planning, development and implementation of school improvement plans. This includes, but is not limited to, insuring improved student achievement through the effective management of the student assessment process. The position will be in accordance with terms outlined in the Stratford Administrators' Association (SAA) contract.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure a safe and orderly environment for staff and students. Administer the school budget and monitor the expenditures of funds. Interpret and enforce district policies and administrative regulations Coordinate, evaluate, and improve the instructional program for all students in the school. Assist in the development, revision, and evaluation of curriculum. Approve the master teaching schedule and any special assignments. Promote positive relationships between the school, the parents of its students, and the general community. Supervise and evaluate certified personnel in the school, and promote the improvement of teacher performance through a systematic program of professional development. File necessary local, State and Federal reports and comply with State and Federal mandates. Cooperate with college and university officials regarding teacher training and preparation. Ensure proper maintenance of the building. Conduct staff meetings. Attend after school functions and meetings, and all other responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Connecticut Intermediate Administrator Certificate, (#092) Experience in the techniques of supervision and evaluation, experience utilizing student data to improve student and school performance, and mentor/assessor training preferred. Evidence of school district leadership is necessary as well as the ability to communicate in a fair and equitable manner with students, parents, staff, district office, business/industry, and the community at large. Strong organizational skills, knowledge of supervisory/evaluation methods and the use of technology to support instruction and special education programming required. Must possess the ability to work cooperatively with staff and to exercise leadership in the supervision of staff and the development of curriculum. A strong academic record, both undergraduate and graduate. Superior oral and written communication skills. High standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity.

COMPENSATION
