Under the general supervision and partnership with the Director of Campus Life, the Campus Life Coordinator is responsible for contributing to the Fall Alpha Leader Training and New Student Support initiatives for the Fall semester. This is a temporary, part-time position for the months of June - August. Required Education Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Master's degree in College Student Affairs, Higher Education, or other related field preferred. Required Experience Demonstrated competence in program development and implementation, and staff development. Direct supervision, management, and training of undergraduate students. Experience with risk management protocol. Able to act on the University's behalf in an emergency situation. Establish and administer safety/risk management and emergency action protocols/plans for areas of responsibility. Prepare and monitor line-item budgets for specific program areas. Understanding of issues related to student development in a university environment. Proven experience in student programming or event planning. Primary Duties/Essential Functions New Student Support Assist with Undergraduate Admissions student onboarding as needed. Contribute to planning, coordinating, and hosting Fall Welcome Weekend, a three-day onboarding experience for all new incoming students and their guests. Fall Alpha Leader Training Provides overall leadership for Alpha program training, including on-campus and off-campus, for Alpha Coordinators and Alpha Leaders. Manage the Alpha Leader Training budget. Coordinate Alpha Coordinator and Alpha Leader training sessions with campus partners. Other Aid in office management and covering of Administrative Assistant duties if necessary. Responsible for daily electronic timekeeping as it applies to the scope of this position. Regular, punctual attendance as required by the supervisor based on department needs. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Campus Life. Skills Knowledge of relevant ethical and legal parameters of professional practice. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with students, parents, staff, and faculty in a friendly, patient, and professional manner. Public speaking and presentation for training and programming purposes. Must have a high degree of initiative and the ability to work independently at times, resourcefulness, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills. Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills, as well as proven creativity in event planning, programming, and publicity. Must be collaborative and an effective team member and team builder Mental Demands In agreement with the purpose and goals of Azusa Pacific University in providing a Christian-based higher education for its students. Ability to understand and relate well to students of diverse backgrounds. Ability to manage challenging situations including student conflict and campus crises. Physical Demands Intermittent sitting and standing. Requires keyboard and 10-key work. Extensive telephone usage. Ability to lift, pull, grasp, bend and reach. Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. Hearing and speaking on the telephone. Meetings may require walking and/or driving to various University locations. Visual Demands Computer monitor and reading. Environment Pleasant office, comfortable temperatures. Multiple conversations and transactions occurring simultaneously. Technologies Proficient in Google Apps., Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel. Compensation Grade 7: $19.49 to $22.41 is the hourly compensation for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive benefits package.
