Student Assistant Department Information Division of Operations and Maintenance, San Luis Field Division, Engineering Branch, Gustine Department of Water Resources (DWR) was established in 1956 by the California State Legislature. We manage California's water resources, systems, and infrastructure, including the State Water Project, in a responsible sustainable way. Special Requirements All applicants for Student Assistant positions must meet the following departmental eligibility requirements: Enrolled in nine (9) semester/eight (8) quarter units for undergraduate students or six (6) semester/four (4) quarter units for graduate students. Achieved and maintain a 2.0 grade point average in the most recently completed academic term. Declared a major related to the duties of the advertised position and enrolled in coursework required for that major. Proof of application for, or enrollment in, a college curriculum preparing for upper division status in an engineering, architectural or landscape architectural curriculum leading to a bachelor's or advanced degree is required. Physical requirements include strength and ability to move 50 pounds, ability to bend, stoop, stretch, enter/exit vehicles, vaults and structures. Ability to ascent/descent stairs, slopes, ladders and to work in confined spaces. Must have a valid Class C California driver's license as you may be required to travel on State business. Employee is required to successfully complete all safety training related to the functions of the job.
