BASIC FUNCTION
Serves as educational and community leader and chief administrator of the assigned 9-12 school with coordination of all school objectives, the instructional program, teacher and staff assignments and evaluations; works in collaboration with SJCC (Community College) staff to establish personalized learning and articulation agreements; create opportunities for students to engage in job shadowing, applied learning experiences, and internships for future career pathways. In addition, the Middle College High School Principal and Coordinator of Dual Enrollment Programs oversees and administers the Dual Enrollment Program for the District.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The Middle College Principal and Coordinator of Dual Enrollment Programs is expected to engage all stakeholders so that the vision and mission of the school reflect the needs and interests of the Milpitas community. The Middle College High School Principal and Coordinator of Dual Enrollment Programs is expected to know the needs of the parents and community and to respond accordingly, in alignment with the District's vision and mission. The nature of the Middle College High School requires close collaboration with the district high school leaders in the student recruitment efforts to innovate, expand equity, and access. Continuous collaboration with the community college is required for the continued expansion of well-articulated pathways. Intentional student support systems are essential to ensure the success of students engaged in college coursework and honors high school curriculum. The Principal and Coordinator of Dual Enrollment Programs will engage in ongoing outreach to create and nurture community and business partnerships in support of student access to internships and career mentorship.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Plans, organizes, controls, and directs instructional activities, extra-curricular events, special programs, and plant operations at a District Middle College High School; confers with District Office personnel regarding staff programs, students, finances, and legal requirements; implements and modifies the school's mission, goals, objectives, and programs as needed. Plans, organizes, and oversees the dual enrollment programming and partnerships for district-wide programming. Interviews, selects, directs, evaluates, and supervises certificated and classified personnel; assigns faculty and staff as appropriate to meet school objectives. Directs and participates in a planned program of classroom visitations and observations; recommends discipline, reassignment, or termination action as appropriate; documents evidence of substandard performance. Leads, manages, and supports the long-term independent study program, which includes staffing, student support, and coordinating with secondary counselors in alignment with the vision of the program. Enforces applicable State and District codes, policies, and laws; administers District and school site discipline policies and safety programs. Plans and directs the business operations of the school; develops and administers site budgets; assures proper allocation of funds for instructional and non-instructional equipment and materials. Directs the evaluation and revision of curricular and instructional programs in cooperation with appropriate District administrators; communicates with teachers to assure instructional programs meet student needs and District requirements. Creates and executes a Professional Development Plan to promote equity practices that exemplify Culture of WE. Establishes, coordinates and maintains communications with community and parent advisory groups, City officials, district and school leadership committees, representatives and law enforcement officials. Prepares and writes correspondence, maintains a school website and other communications on behalf of the school; arranges for school-level public relations and publicity for special events and achievements as appropriate. Creates and implements a targeted district-wide recruitment plan to ensure access to students underrepresented in higher education. Plans, implements, directs and evaluates instructional and categorical programs in accordance with State and Federal laws, District regulations and other specially-funded program requirements. Assures the health, safety and welfare of students; oversees attendance, behavior management, counseling, guidance and other support services. Coordinates with San Jose City College Milpitas Extension Director the maintenance operations of the school plant, assures proper management, maintenance and inventory of materials, equipment, buildings and grounds. Seeks out, applies for, and manages oversights for grants tied to Middle College and dual enrollment programming. Attends, conducts and chairs a variety of meetings with faculty, parents and community representatives; coordinates and meets with school site advisory groups; conducts student/parent appeals; responds to and resolves parent, student and staff complaints; represents the school at Board, District and community functions. Directs the preparation and maintenance of a variety of District, County, State and Federally-mandated records and reports regarding student attendance, welfare, discipline, safety, academic achievement and certification for graduation. Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Proper Secondary Administration, Standard Supervision, Ryan Administration, or equivalent credential. Five (5) years of teaching experience, preferably at the 9-12 grade level. Previous experience as a Principal is DESIRED. Master's degree. Demonstrated leadership and organizational abilities at high school level. Meet District standards for physical and mental health. Two (2) years experience as Assistant Principal-High School.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Dual Enrollment Legislation and Ed Code Comprehensive organization, activities, goals and objectives of a District Middle College High School. School law administration and applicable sections of the State Education Code and other applicable laws. State and local curriculum requirements. Board and District policies, procedures and regulations. Labor relations law and employee contracts. State plant facility requirements. Budget preparation and control. Principles and practices of administration, supervision and training. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Oral and written communication skills. Public speaking techniques. Digital Literacy.
ABILITY TO
Engage and facilitate on-going cycles of inquiry related to instructional goals Create and nurture a culturally responsive environment Plan, organize and direct the operations, plant and personnel of an assigned comprehensive high school. Organize, direct, evaluate and supervise assigned staff. Direct activities regarding personnel, the physical plant, budget, student services and activities, curriculum and instruction and communications and articulation. Train, supervise and evaluate certificated and classified personnel. Plan and direct the budget and business operations of a comprehensive high school. Establish, coordinate and maintain communication with community and parent groups. Plan, implement, direct and evaluate instructional and categorical programs in accordance with applicable laws. Plan and organize work. Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action. Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Prepare and deliver oral presentations. Promote and plan for a positive school climate for high school students. Encourage cooperative working relationships among staff members and promote high morals. Work closely with parents and community in an ongoing public relations spirit to improve communications and understanding of policies, programs, legal requirements and activities.

Pay:
$166,707.00 - $197,073.00 per year
