PrintREDDING SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE OF POSITION PRINCIPALS
- Elementary and Middle School Principals
RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
The chief officer in every school plant shall be designated as the school principal, who shall serve at the pleasure of the Superintendent. 2. The principal is the administrative and supervisory head of the school, and as such is responsible for the enforcement of the policies of the governing board and the general regulations and administrative procedures, as directed by the Superintendent.EXAMPLE OF DUTIES AS PRINCIPAL 1.
Organize and supervise the educational program, including the school health services. 2. Assist in the selection of faculty personnel for the school insofar as possible. 3. Be responsible for the assignment of the teaching and classified staff within the school. 4. Assist the Superintendent in the in-service training of certificated personnel and shall supervise teachers' professional growth. The principal shall attend teacher in-service workshops and meetings as often as possible. The principal shall provide for teachers' meetings, advise teachers with regard to instructional problems, and assist the teachers in planning lessons and developing teaching techniques. 5. Evaluate the work of all personnel assigned to his school; the principal shall make recommendations for the continued employment, reassignment, or separation from service of such personnel. 6. Assist in the development of the several curriculums and in planning and adapting the courses of study to the needs and interests of the children. 7. Coordinate, appraise, and evaluate the instructional program. 8. Look upon supervision as a cooperative process, involving classroom teachers. 9. Be responsible for the health and welfare of the children and teachers. 10. Assist in the administration and supervision of achievement testing and other testing programs approved by the governing board. 11. Supervise classroom management and pupil discipline. 12. Supervise attendance accounting for the school. 13. Be responsible for the classification, promotion or retention of pupils in the school. 14. Supervise all communication with parents. 15. Develop and direct the school's public relations program. 16. Supervise and direct the work of classified personnel assigned to the school when applicable. 17. Supervise and be responsible for the cleanliness, sanitation, and safety of the school plant. 18. Supervise fire drills and earthquake drills. 19. Supervise the requisition of supplies, textbooks, equipment and all materials necessary to the operation of the school. (Requisitions shall be routed through the Business Services Office.) 20. Develop policies for all extra-curricular activities, including student body organizations, and shall provide supervision for such activities. 21. Be responsible for organizing the playgrounds, lunchrooms, and noon hour in the best interests of the students. 22. Be responsible for reporting to the Business Office all employee absences, and for verifying hours and days worked by certificated and classified employees under his jurisdiction. 23. Shall keep the superintendent completely and continuously informed as to the condition of the school and the activities therein. 24. Shall perform such other duties as may be assigned by the superintendent. 25. Learn, supervise and adhere to all personnel and business procedures approved by the superintendent. 26. Shall participate as a member of the management team and attend scheduled Leadership meetings.OTHER CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS 1.
