JOB SPECIFICATION SPECIAL DAY CLASS TEACHER THE POSITION
Serves as the classroom teacher for students whose academic, social and/or emotional difficulties preclude placement in regular classroom program.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
The duties listed are typical, but not exclusive: Provide learning experiences and teaches the course of study prescribed by the District approved curriculum. Adapts this curriculum, as appropriate, to meet the special needs of students. Develop and use instructional materials which address all modalities for use with a wide range of student developmental levels. Provide individualized instruction designed to meet the academic and motivational needs of all students. Evaluate academic and social growth of students, and keep appropriate records. Establish and maintain standards of student control required to achieve effective participation in all activities. Communicate with parents through a variety of means. Hold parent conferences to address student progress. Adhere to all mandated timelines for special education students. Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, socio-emotional and academic problems. Create an effective environment for learning through use of functional displays such as bulletin boards, interest centers, etc. Maintain professional competence through participation in professional growth activities. Participate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the objectives, which will form the basis for the District's evaluation process. Cooperate in school-wide supervision of students during out-of-classroom activities. Participate in faculty and/or district committees and the sponsorship of student activities, perform duties assigned by the administrator to assist in the function of the school.
QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE A
valid California credential authorizing service with the selected Special Education classroom. Master's degree in Special Education preferred.
