Financial Peer Mentor Hourly Salary $21.00 Hourly Location Auraria Campus, CO Job Type Part-Time Job Number 2020-00894 Division CCD Hourly Opening Date 05/27/2026 Closing Date 6/1/2026 5:00 PM Mountain Position Type Hourly Description Benefits Purpose/Summary The Financial Peer Mentor is a CCD employee who provides peer-to-peer support, encouragement, outreach, and general financial education to CCD students through the Coaching Connections grant program. The position helps students connect with financial education resources, participate in mentoring sessions, and engage in workshops and activities that promote financial awareness, student success, and responsible decision-making. The Financial Peer Mentor serves as a supportive liaison between CCD students and Coaching Connections staff while maintaining appropriate confidentiality, professionalism, and FERPA-compliant practices. Duties and Responsibilities The Financial Peer Mentor supports the planning, coordination, promotion, and delivery of financial education services for CCD students.
Main functions include:
  • Solicit, follow up with, and schedule CCD students, departments, classes, and campus partners for financial peer mentoring sessions, presentations, workshops, and related activities.
  • Provide peer-to-peer information, encouragement, and general resource navigation on financial education topics primarily around credit scores, but may include budgeting, basic money management, financial goal setting, paying for college, responsible use of financial resources, and awareness of available CCD student supports.
  • Present financial education workshops, activities, and outreach information in classrooms, public spaces, student events, and other approved campus or virtual settings.
  • Assist with the development, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of programs, workshops, outreach activities, handouts, presentation materials, and student engagement strategies.
  • Promote Coaching Connections Financial Education services through student outreach, tabling, classroom visits, campus events, approved digital communications, and collaboration with CCD departments and partners.
  • Share participant experiences, quotes, success stories, and student feedback as appropriate for reporting, outreach, and program improvement while maintaining participant confidentiality and complying with FERPA guidelines.
  • Act as a liaison between the CCD student population and Coaching Connections staff by communicating common student questions, barriers, interests, and financial education needs.
  • Collaborate with fellow Financial Peer Mentors and program staff to coordinate schedules, prepare materials, support events, and ensure consistent messaging.
  • Maintain accurate records of contacts, mentoring sessions, activities, outreach efforts, and student engagement as directed by the supervisor.
  • Participate in required training, supervision, team meetings, and ongoing professional development related to peer mentoring, financial education, confidentiality, student support, and campus resources.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the goals of Coaching Connections and CCD student success.
Qualifications Required/ Minimum High School Diploma. Minimum of 24 college level credits, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (Preferred) Experience as a CCD student, peer mentor, tutor, student leader, ambassador, office assistant, workshop facilitator, customer service employee, volunteer, or participant in financial education, student success, or campus engagement activities. Bilingual ability is helpful but not required Supplemental Information Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to listen to peers concerns and challenges; ability to create a supportive, inclusive, and non-judgmental environment; ability to maintain impartiality, confidentiality, and FERPA-compliant boundaries; interest in financial management and financial education as applied to diverse student circumstances; general understanding of, or willingness to learn, CCD resources for students; compassion and understanding for students financial situations; dependability, professionalism, punctuality, and ability to follow through on assigned tasks; ability to work independently and as part of a team; willingness to present information in public settings; ability to learn general databases and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. None required. Willingness to obtain the Certified Financial Peer Mentor and/ or Financial Education Micro-Credential Computer, telephone, email, Microsoft Office, presentation equipment, printer/copier/scanner, approved CCD databases or tracking systems, virtual meeting hours based on program need and student availability. Position requires appropriate handling of student information, adherence to confidentiality and FERPA expectations, and participation in required training and supervision.
