Job Description
Granby Public Schools seeks an exceptional educational leader to serve as Principal of Granby Memorial Middle School. The successful candidate will be a visible, student-centered leader who fosters a positive school culture, supports academic excellence, and builds strong partnerships with students, staff, families, and the broader community.
Granby Memorial Middle School serves approximately 390 students in grades 6-8 and is committed to providing a challenging, supportive, and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Principal serves as the instructional and operational leader of the school and is responsible for advancing the district's mission, supporting continuous improvement efforts, and ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities
Provide visionary leadership focused on student achievement, growth, and well-being.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive school culture that promotes belonging and high expectations for all students.
Lead and support high-quality teaching and learning through instructional leadership, classroom observation, coaching, and professional development.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to implement curriculum, assessment, and school improvement initiatives.
Utilize student performance, attendance, behavioral, and climate data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.
Support and strengthen multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) to address students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
Promote restorative and proactive approaches to student discipline and behavior support.
Ensure compliance with state and federal requirements, Board of Education policies, and district procedures.
Partner effectively with families and community stakeholders to support student success.
Develop, supervise, and evaluate certified and non-certified staff.
Manage school operations, budgets, scheduling, safety planning, and daily building functions.
Qualifications
Connecticut Intermediate Administrator and Supervisor Certificate (092) or eligibility required.
A minimum of three (3) years of successful administrative experience is preferred. Successful administrative experience, preferably at the middle school level.
Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and school improvement practices.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting the diverse needs of all learners.
Experience fostering a positive school climate and culture.
Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, staff, district leaders, and community partners.
Granby Public Schools offers a collaborative leadership environment, dedicated staff, engaged families, and a strong commitment to educational excellence. The district seeks a leader who is passionate about middle level education and dedicated to helping every student succeed.
Compensation and benefits shall be in accordance with the Granby Administrators' Association Agreement. The first year of compensation will be determined based on the administrator's years of experience, with a salary range between $158,392 - $186,716.
