Immediately Job Description Job Summary Assists in leading the Charter School Department. Supervises the application, monitoring and maintenance of charter options including charter schools and other state mandated private and public school choice programs. Supervises the assignment of students to charter schools, school boundaries and student enrollment database. Assists with writing and implementing large scale grants involving charter schools. Essential Functions 1. Assists Assistant Superintendent with recruitment, selection, orientation, training, coaching, counseling, and discipline of charter office staff. Plans, monitors, appraises, and reviews staff job contributions to planning, development, delivery, follow-up, and evaluation of Charter School services. 2. Provides support, vision and oversight for all Charter School programs. 3. Communicates policies, rules and procedures governing the district's school choice charter options to the public. Prepares reports and makes presentations to the administration, School Board and the community regarding charter schools and pupil placement. 4. Oversees Charter Programs and assists charter operators and their governing boards. 5. Oversees the application, implementation, and evaluation for charter programs. 6. Develops budgets for charter office operations and oversees the distribution of district and federal funds for charter schools. 7. Conducts site reviews and visits to magnet, choice, and charter schools. 8. Reviews and updates District staff on legislation regarding Charter Schools. 9. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Education:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
Four (4) years successful supervisory or administrative experience at the school or central office with increasing levels of responsibility. Knowledge of school board policies; state and federal laws related to school choice options and pupil assignment; curriculum development; and current trend in charter school design and implementation. Demonstrated knowledge and/or ability with technology, fiscal affairs, GIS software, and school boundaries. Must have grant management background. Management experience with Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) grant preferred.

  • Knowledge of current trends in charter school design and implementation
  • Knowledge of student tracking systems and methodologies associated with student assignment
  • Knowledge of school boundaries

  • Strong word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, GIS, and database software skills
